Putting it out there for anyone who's interested.

I've been fine tuning a spreadsheet which analyses past data. I've got it to the stage now where if a decent sample of data (in any sport) in input, it will spit out basically any stats you want instantly. The data that needs to be input is Home team, away team, home team score, away team score, home team odds, and away team odds.

After inputting that data (a quick copy and paste), I can very easily run any "what would have happened if...." filter you can think of. Eg bet on the fav, bet on the home team, bet on the away team between rounds x and x, bet on the home team if paying between x and x, and whatever else.

I've already done significant analysis on many different rugby and league competitions, AFL, baseball and a few others. So, if anyone out there wants to collaborate on anything like this (or if you have data that you want analyzed) feel free to send me a PM.

I was waiting to see the defensive combination of the Thunderbirds and with Shimmin named at GD I expect this to be a defensive contest within plenty of turnover ball. Thunderbirds have only gone over 106 goals in 3 out of 9 matches while Firebirds have only gone over the total in 2 out of 10. The total is inflated due to the spanking the Firebirds gave the Tactix last week. The current poor play of Borrego seems it will continue having to come up against Geitz. Total at 94.

Queensland Firebirds to WIN: 1 unit @ $2.08 (Luxbet - $2.05 bet365)

I know I have said I'll only be playing totals but this price is too good to pass up. The Firebirds have the edge in the mid court and defensive end and with the ability to run either Wild or Wells through the GA position. I have the Firebirds clearly on top. Firebirds by 6 goals.

Yeah I like the total. The Thunderbirds have won the last 6 games between the two sides however.

Firedbirds HT/Thunderbirds FT has cashed out out of the last four games they've played. At $7, I think it's worth a wee punt.

Game starts in under 2 hours.

But i really like connecticut in this one. They seem to have a good list this season and chicago are under maned with a few injuries. Only danger here is the connecticut team is stil fresh playing together so only a 1 unit play.

If you go to the sub-forum that this thread is listed under, eg NBA or More Sports, it shows the total replies and views for each thread.

Time to dust the cobwebs off this thread and get back to work.

I always said I'd be back and well here I am...

Will post my plays for the NRL & AFL seasons (NRL starting this w/e) and probably a few boxing/MMA plays (have been doing really well with the fight game lately).

For those that don't know me I have had a moderately successful last few years in AFL, and an extremely successful last few years in NRL.

No more rugby, nba, football or netball plays. Just sticking to my bread & butter - NRL, AFL & fighting.

Sharkies are legit this year. You can forget all about the disaster of a team that showed up in 2014. Arguably the best forward pack in the comp, talented backs, solid spine, great kids & depth & finally they have there first choice coach back in charge. Also Barba looms as an interesting X-factor if he can click with Robbo. I expect them to start this year with a bang in front of their home crowd. Raiders only asset is their great forward pack, however with everyone healthy (bar Lewis) the Sharkies can match them easy up forward and dominate them through the spine & 3/4 line. The Sharkies will be so so keen to get this season off to a flying start after the Asada nonsense of last season.

Friday Night footy

Manly @ Parra

I think the Eels are definitely worth a unit here. It's a tough match to call, however Parra has opened strongly at home in recent times, and with Watmough coming up against his old side, I would expect him to have the young & huge Parra forward pack fired up to bash to the older & smaller Manly forward pack. Some of the big Islanders Parra has coming off the bench (Paulo, Paulo & Pauli) will surely impact the game. Manly still has lots of turmoil surrounding them, with the coach Toovey under pressure & their star centres under injury clouds (Lyon, Matai) and all the drama surrounding DCE & Foran. I give a small edge to Parra in this clash and seeing as you can pick them up at the ML at $1.98 at most books, they are definitely worth a unit here.

*Aussie lads take advantage of Luxbets & Sportsbets season opening NRL specials for extra value! Also for the smaller punters you can get $6 on a Parra win & Radradra try at Sportingbet (which is great value) although unfortunately only $20 max bet...

West Tigers @ Gold Coast Titans

Tigers -4.5 (2.5x)

Titans are in a shambles as a result of the drugs scandal that has decimated their forward pack. They are a "professional" rugby league club with no permanent training facility? WTF? The Tigers have a fantastic spine of Farrah, Brooks, Tedesco & Moses and the potential of those 3 young kids is sky high. Also with everyone back healthy in Tigerland they have a far superior pack to whomever the Titans can scramble together, with two Australian rep players in Farrah and Woods, rising young star Sironen back healthy, and the enforcer Marty Ta-Pow! off the bench. Better forwards, better halves/spine, probably par in the respective backlines, however the Tigers have far more stability going for them under new coach JT, than the shamble that is the current Titans team. I think the Titans will be competitive early and may even take a lead into half time, however I expect the Tigers to run them down at some point and possibly pile on the points late. Probably my favourite play of round 1.
