Unlike NASCAR where you are given a set template which your car must conform to, f1 engineers can design the car how they see fit, as long as it is within the rules. Each car is very different.

The Lotus that Alonso was looking at is very good this year, probably better than Alonso's Ferrari in many ways. And teams are very protective of their designs and you very rarely get to see your opposition cars up close like that. He would be just taking mental notes of anything he thought may have looked interesting so as to tell his design engineers later on during debriefing.

Teams also hire professional photographers on race weekends to take high detail shots of opponents cars so he is unlikely to notice anything that the engineers havent already spotted, but that won't stop him from checking it out just to see for himself.

I guess British motor racing fans are used to it, but you have to feel for the massive crowd and campers this weekend. They get wet most years, soaked every 3 or 4 and need an Ark about once in each 10 years... but still they turn up!

As for the grand prix Lewis at 10-1 looks good will be charging

I like Vettel and webber and Lewis for the win don't like alonso struggled to get into the top 10 shoot out yesterday

Rain is forecast not raining at the minute but very overcast if it does rains exciting race in place

I agree with most of that. Although just saw an interview with Grosjean on SkyF1 and he sounded pretty confident they will have a dry race. For the start at very least. Which takes away all the tyre considerations.

I have Webber to win +560, Webber top3 +130 and Ridciardo over Senna -115 so far.

I am sitting here tossing up how much to put on Vettel and the 2 Lotus cars right now.... assuming it will be dry that is.

It is very impressive, i was watching the sky coverage and the conditions of the GA & camp area was just insane. Brits love their F1 that is for sure. Respect.

I am sitting here following the radar and weather feeds and it looks like a very small chance of light rain falling near race start, but more likely later, 60 percent chance around half way distance, with chances of heavy rain during the last half.

There is a chance it could all miss the circuit, as it is scattered shower, and one other forecast model has the heavy rain hitting after race finish. 50/50 at this stage if race is effected or not IMO.

I'm taking a couple of props for the race:

No Safety Car @ 2.90
Zero cars fail to finish Lap 1 @ 1.75

and I have the following from earlier in the weekend..

Winning Team - Red Bull @ 3.15
Top 3 Finish - Lewis Hamilton @ 1.90
Race H2H, Kovalainen @ 1.88 over Petrov

Faaaark, I can't believe Stoner just lost the bike!!!

I 'think' it was Petrov anyway. Watching BBC pre show stream with one ear.

Yep, Petrov stopped on track on his way to the grid, they showed him pull on Sky coverage. I don't think he can start in spare car at this stage. I'm pretty sure that will void my bet, but I had already placed it.

Didn't really think my bets out very much for this race.

A Red Bull or Lotus win and I'm a winner basically.

Would have taken the Under 5 seconds margin at $2.40 if I had thought too.
