Montoya 20/1

This is the same chassis that Montoya qualified on the pole and drove to a third place finish at Talladega in the fall of 2010. Montoya ran up front the entire day and was the car that pushed Bowyer to the win. Montoya is quickly becoming a pretty good plate driver and with no worries about points his aggressive driving style will have him where he needs to be to win the race at the end at a nice price.

20/1 is pretty good for Juan, but I just don't trust him to get it done. I think I'm going to wait until he breaks through on an oval before I try to guess when it's going to happen.

JJ didn't look great off the truck, and I liked Bowyer and Kurt anyway, so it seemed like a good idea.

I'm not worried about his performance. I'm worried about the mental aspect of him finally breaking through to put it in 1st place. After he pissed the bed at Indy two years ago, I think it's just been hard for him.

On that same train of thought, though, I think after he cracks through with his first win.. he's going to rattle off another one or two right after.

Practice notes

Looking at the best 10 consecutive lap runs which I think is very important here since you tend to see lots of green flag racing at Daytona here are a few things that stood out to me.

Hamlin was fastest in the first practice and third fastest in the second practice.

Rousch cars were average in the first practice but came back to take three of the top four spots in the second practice with Kenseth on top followed by Edwards and Biffle in fourth. Biffle looked in both practices and looks the best of the Rousch cars and looks like he has a very fast car.

Gordon was the only driver to finish in the top ten in both practices.

I added a little on Hamlin 10/1 and Biffle 25/1 tonight to go along with Montoya 20/1.

Lets go racing.

And yeah Hawk... not very sure if 200 laps of that stuff will be good or bad. Should be better than follow the leader on the low line at least I guess.

The 2-packs were interesting, not sure if I liked it yet. I liked the no front braces on the cars though.
