DAYTONA SPEED WEEKS (The Clash/Can-Am Duels)

fellas the 2018 NASCAR season is upon us, with less than 2 weeks til the Daytona 500...As most of you know, Speed Weeks are the races and festivities leading up to the 500, which includes the The Clash at Daytona, which is basically just a meaningless pre-season 75-lap event...The Can-Am Duels, 2 night races on the Thursday the 15th , will decide the running order for the Daytona 500, besides the front row which will be locked in after Qualifying for the Daytona 500 (basically its just to see who is on the front row)....


Now these races, along with the 500, are always very very tough, because there is not alot of handicapping that can take place...i basically look for the best value of the plate drivers i usually like to take and will only play probably 2 per event for the Clash and each duel race...going overboard on these races is really not a smart decision, and for that matter neither is the 500 as the 1st race of year and more than that its the 1st plate race....


I will be posting a Daytona 500 thread in the sub-forum in a few days to kick off the usual weekly thread i have for each race weekend...


Will post plays as i pick them as usual...will pick a few soon for these evens as the odds for the Clash are already up....i haven't played anything yet besides 1 play i made months ago on Blaney for the 500 (2750)


And everybody who has a serious opinion, picks, or just a thought about any race is always welcome to post it in the threads..The more info/opinions the better imo....i don't post these race threads in PT because i really only care about the people that are really interested and are actually betting

I doubt that I'll bet much for speed week races.

But it should at least help us work out if the new bodies make a difference, and where Ford stands in particular.

yeah ill probably just bet maybe 2-3 guys for the Clash, just because I'm always way too excited not to but Less than that for the duels, probably just 2 max..looking back, Daytona 500 week has not been my best to say the least, was only plate race i lost last yr so gonna TRY and reign it in a little..lol...the following week in Atlanta is when the real work starts for us...

besides being the st plate race, like we have talked about this off-season of changes seems like a lot more than usual, from the manufacturer body to a lot of new drivers in new places...plus of course we have no idea who will shoot out of the box strong...last year it took months and months for JGR to even contend for a win

If they change primary for the 500 they also start in the rear at Atlanta too. could have a big impact on practices

Thought I was the only one who might be considering him. With him winning the Daytona Coors Light Pole Award, a Can-Am Duel victory and then running out of gas while leading the 500 last year, he's on my radar. Only thing holding me back was figuring out if the New Chevy Camaro ZL1 is up to par yet, sometimes takes a while to work the kinks out. But if last weeks tire test @ Las Vegas is any indication, Chevy should give Toyota a run for it's money this year. Top 3 fastest cars in the test were Chevy's. Led by Kyle Larson, another driver on my radar this year.

same here CD and i dont think his odds are gonna get better for the 500. should start well again here if new body is ok. us talking about him just made my mind up actually. lol

ill Larson might as well have had a permanent spot on my roster last year. dont see that changing. As u said CD, that vegas test was eye opening

Gonna be a wild racing season for sure! With all the changes go'in on, new Chevy Camaro body, drivers retiring, moving to different teams, owners scaling back from 3 to 2 car operations, the youth movement at Hendrick Motor Sports, its a lot of info to take in!

I'm still try'in to figure out who's diving what and for who! William Byron is taking over the Hendrick Chevy #24 team, which is the "old" #5 team of Kasey Kahne, last year's #24 team is now the #9 team with Chase Elliott?

Someone with not a clue about Nascar, like Jake, lol, could easily win this thing!
