SANOMA (road course)

Alright fellas we are off to SANOMA California this weekend for some road course racing in the Cup series. We have a weekend triple-header again with both the trucks and xfinity series racing at IOWA motorspeedway which is always a big event for them. Both those will be night races on fri and sat. Hopefully we got the runner-up finishes out of our system last week!

SANOMA is a 1.99 asphalt road course that has many elevation changes and 10 unique turns through the course. Started all my weekly research with my notebooks and watching recent past races this morning. Hoping we may see a few guys with decent odds that I like, but again not holding my breathe

in recent years many non road course guys have put in the effort and become treally game in these races, which is why they have been so fun and entertaining to watch. Plus there no way around fuel mileage and strategy calls coming into play for every team out there. Not sure how the stages will impact that, but You can also easily hit pit road for full service under green flag conditions and not lose a lap.

*there have been 10 different winners the last 12 Sanoma races, with Kyle B being the only active driver to with more than 1 win that time frame.

* Kurt Busch leads all active drivers with 7 top 5 finishes

* Truex won his only career road course race here in 2013

Sonoma - be interesting to see how the segments work as a pit window is about 30-33 laps, so we may get back markers pit near the 20 lap mark and stay out for track position

I live like 20 minutes from this race course and the weather is 20 degrees hotter then usual right now wonder if this will play any factor

By the way, fadinv Allmendinger in h2h matchups has been a absolute goldmine at Sonoma

always qualifies well NEVER backs it up at the checkers. Never even had a top 5 finish here

Still haven't played a winner for trucks because the odds are so bad. I'm sure i will be parlaying bell after qualifying and will just have to see how the odds change then on everybody before the race. It can't possibly get any worse.

Totally agree with that, but any track over 2 miles, cars will short pit before stages. As long as short pitting doesnt put you 1 lap down

Great lil tidbit to point out here M5! Practice n qualys always " like a rock" but when green flag waves, he drops spots "like a rock"! Usually a shit pit or dingin up the dingermobile, or parts failure. I dont like taking him when choosin driver to get best finish, in contest im in, where u use each driver 1 time Only. N usin a dinger or other bum, saves a better driver for future. But takin Dinger here, wouldnt do it. Seems to fare better at Watkins.

Figures, had the Bowyer n Kurt (TO WIN) amt in at 5durr, but got distracted n dont get it in b4 P1. Hope he stays at 850, after p1, but was fast off the truck it seems, SHocKing, I know, lol.

Made a lil ground in my wkly driver pool M5. Pays 12 spots, in 11, up 1, 12th guy is up 1 than 15pt gap to 14th.

Main guys left with last 3 races of 1st hf: jones*kahne*newman* kurt*austin n other bums. Thinkin its gotta be Kurt here with what I got and; KURT HAS 7 Top 5's in 16 starts, which 5MIKE5 mentioned, n,(KURT HAS 8 TOP 10s IN 17 STARTS)So when Mr Kurt Busch is dialed in here, HE IS TOP 5 DIALED IN, HERE IN WINE COUNTRY

After watching the truck race, track position is everythingat Iowa.

U can't pass at all so keep that in mind for the xfinity race
