The COCA-COLA 600
Alright fellas we are staying out in CHARLOTTE another week for the longest race of the year the coke 600. This is the greatest race weekend of the year folks, we also have xfinity series on sat, the INDY 500 afternoon, and the monoco GP.
Charlotte is a 1.5 mile oval with 24 degrees of banking in all 4 turns and 5 degrees of banking on all the straights. This race will had a 4th stage added (sadly) last week, so there will be 4 stages of 100 laps each. Little over half the race is run in the evening and the rest under the lights at night.
With this race being 400 laps (600 miles) there are usually a lot of mechanical and tire issues involved and taking care of the equipment is a must. Along with minimizing mistakes on pit lane. It's also notorious for long green flag runs. It's a difficult race to handicap for all those reasons, but we have a good idea of what teams have had speed on intermediate racetracks. Odds for starters will
be very low for most of those contenders.
