    PHOENIX---5mike5
Alright fellas, NOW the real season starts as we leave the crap-shoots of Daytona, and head across the country to PHOENIX....now is where the real knowledge and handicapping work start to come into play...the nationwide series AND the CUP series will both be in action this weekend in the usual Saturday and Sunday afternoon time slots...The truck series is OFF for the next few weekends

My daytona speed weeks was nothing short of awful so i for 1 am ready to get to these racetracks and start going to work...as usual all the regulars posts and comments, opinion, picks ect ect are always welcomed and encouraged....this week we are going across the country to PHOENIX International Speedway

PHOENIX is a 1-mile D-shaped tri-oval with variable banking in the turns of 10-12 in turns 1&2 and 8-9 degrees in turns 3&4 and 8-9 degrees down the backstretch

This track was redone a few years ago and some of the same drivers have seemed to have a great feel for it and running up front almost every race...and winning ALOT

GOODLUCK this week crew!!! ive already broke open my notebooks and tapes and an getting to work!!

Totally agree. Harvick has been stout here recently but will that continue in new equipment, new team? Not too confident for whatever reason

Was thinking same on Harvick , just not sure as strong here as in past.

Unlike any other year , is gonna take 2 months to really get a good read in harvick, Kurt, Newman, Larson, truex, ect ect and if odds reflect this. Probably not books dot know better not to. LOL.

I'm not sure f I'll stay away or not. Especially after what kennseth did with a new team and manufacter last seaso. Could go either way for a few if these guys

There's def going to be a wait and see approach on the guys that switched teams and the younger guys. And it will take months probably to get the feel we need. Also Came with the Gen6 for me to really last season

since the repave, this track races alot like richmond. use to anyways, but now it is really close. if you flip the front and back streches almost identacle, except for the extra 1/4 mile in distance and the passing grove on the flat. however, really close. and the results bare that as well. hamlin (which i think you guys all had) edwards (which some of us had) and harvick (which i think everyone had) and edwards could have (should have) won if not for running out of fuel. but harvick did as well prior to the last stop so even steven.

this race will be a little different since there are no longe any ride heights so i think that the guys that like loose cars willbe good. one early play based on that is biffle at anything over 22/1. not to mention last year biffle started in the back and made it to the front for a stint. this is a very hard track to pass on, so maybe mike you can tell us ...did he race to the front or use pit calls to get there. in the first race. hamlin and busch both started at back for engines and raced up front. again same question as you say you re watch the races.

thanks in advance for that information.

                                              Good post Vinny,

I think you could also compare the last couple spring Richmond races for that very reason. Harvick (2013 winner) and Kyle Busch (2012 &2011 winner).

Not sure why I thought I started 0-3 last year , but I has a big payday off harvick winning Phoenix after the 500. Just didn't have Edwards in the fall. Has to check my thread here after seeing that in my notebook from last year'a spring race. Just has mentioned I had bad start but I didn't.

Watching last years races already this morning after both from 2013 and watched spring 2012. So just sitting here working still editing notes

Made a few plays yesterday and if course they dropped like a rock but worse tha last year it seemed. Hope that doesn't continue.

Might need to to have more friends work on funding accounts for me. .

It's like riding a bike, I'm back in the working day groove now. Luckily my woman now works from 9-6 except Thursdays during the week so its nice and quite. Ahhhh. Love this time of year
