It's a series of 5 x 5 day long cricket matches played between England and Australia every 4 years.

It started in the 1880s after an Australian team beat the mighty Mother land team and they burnt the stumps in disgust.

Now we play for those ashes as the trophy.

After 134 series, we have won 67 each...

Another long time cricket tradition. Melbourne Ashes test match starts on December 26th (which we call Boxing Day) and a lot of people attend.

1st day is a bit of a party day I think. By cricket standards anyway. No tailgating.
