they posted the "official" average, and it had Kyle at 2.2 and Kurt at 3.7, which were obviously the wrong numbers. The announcers then said Kyle would be first.

All star race should drop all this segment stuff and just have an anything goes race for 150-200 miles.
Let the engine builders do specials and let the body guys experiment etc etc, and pay dollars per position on every lap instead of segment based prizes. Those segment finishes aren't at all exciting anyway. So there is like a constant cash register going each lap as well as the current race position.
Have dollars bonus going to each crew based on their best 4 tire stop, or accumulated pit time, or something like that.
Maybe allow previous champions from any other tier 1 motorsport series a wildcard entry. Michael Schumacher would be a drawcard even in the US for a lot of people that may not usually watch NASCAR.
Run it at Eldora.
Run it at Indy with one race on the infield road racing circuit and one race on the oval... using a 2 driver team per car. Making most teams want to draft in a guest road race driver like the V8s do(did) with their Gold Coast race.
Maybe have a rally style race as a leg one year.
So many ways to 'fix' this failing All Star idea. They need an outside promoter like Bernie Eccelstone to come in and make it work for them as NASCAR doesnt seem to have any ideas. Dropping the pit crew challenge, which sounded like it was a highlight of the year for family and friends of all the team members... followed by the Danica entry rule shows some marketer trying to extract the last juice from a market is in control, rather than the people thinking about the long term future of the sport first.

I took Coultard and Van Gisbergen each way.
Think one or both will be good for a top 5.
The bet is really for Coultard top 5 +167 and Van Gisbegen top 5 +466, taking into account the highly unlikely win side.
