I'm leaning early to #11 Steppenwolfer.

#4Im not big on horses, so Im not sure if Im going to wager on this event or not.
I will tune in to watch it though. I just hope we dont see anything like we did at the Preakness.

#5I'm leaning toward Steppenwolfer as well. I also like Ermine in the Acorn two races prior. Both horses being ridden by Robby Albarado, who is due to win one of these big Triple Crown races.
I'm expecting about 4-1 on Steppenwolfer. Put John Velasquez or Garett Gomez on the horse and he'd by 5-2 or less. Doesn't mean he'll win, but Albarado is not known nationally, so we might get a better price with him riding.

#7If you check the PPs, notice that Steppenwolfer, when breaking his maiden last year at Aqueduct, beat Jazil by a nose. Means nothing, but very odd to see 2 horses from the same 2-year-old maiden race meet in a Triple Crown race the following year.

#8Hollywood Park possible
In the 5th race on Saturday, I'm jumping back on the No. 2 horse Popaki. I won on him when he broke his maiden 2 races back at 12-1 and came back on him next out at 38-1 when he ran a very good 3rd ($12 to show) in first try against winners.
Today, he'll likely be one of the top choices in the same type of race, cutting back to 5.5 furlongs. There appears to be plenty of early speed in here, which would set up his late run with a good trip (easier said than done).
I'm going to play him in a DD with likely favorite Lava Man in the Grade 1 turf race in Race 6. Not thrilled with Lava Man being shuttled back and forth between dirt and turf, but I just can't pick anyone else in here.Comment -

#10In agreement with the posted two by kdmfox and picantel and Seattle Slew.
I don't think I'll be doing any trifectas today. Jazil and Steppenwolfer are the horses that should compete for this win today. Only exacta boxes and win tickets for me today.

That tuff race was a good one, with 4 horses together at the finish.

#21Nice hit pic especially on the P4 .... I changed my mind and went with Jazil ... I thought he'd be running closer up than Steppenwolfer but he ended up running last ... Played exactas with Steppenwolfer and lost but hit on (3) $1 trifectas and 125 WP on Jazil ... Figures all 4 of my picks finish 1,2,3,4 and I didn't play a Super.
$125 Win-Place 8 ------ $1,318.75
$5 Exacta Box ------ $0.00 2/8/11

#25Hope you kept the bet! We got 4-5 on Lava Man, and I think that was a steal to get $3.80 to win. This horse is frecking amazing. I didn't have much money left after a tough day, but instead of chasing a longshot here I just said "take Lava Man." I couldn't hit the exacta though and my earlier pick Popaki ran like shit the race before to kill my daily double.
They are putting Lava Man back to dirt for the Hollywood Gold Cup, but I think they should keep him on turf. Because of the slow fractions in these long races, nobody can touch him when the real running starts. The dirt races is where you often see fast paces up front.

#30Sarava at 70-1 won the Belmont in the field that had War Emblem (from the Chicago prep races) going for the Triple Crown.
Lemon Drop Kid at 29-1 won the Belmont the year Charismatic broke down in the stretch. I think that's the one at 30-1 you're thinking of.
