Interesting post draw............. I am starting to like LIKE NOW. He's away from the proven quantities and, theoretically, has a shorter trip.

We'll see. Thanks for the links fox.

The Pimlico Special is a terrible race. I can't believe for $500,000 more trainers didn't enter horses here.

In the Preakness, I'm on Brother Derek on top of Barbaro. I think Derek turns the tables here with a good trip. I think the media is way overhyping Barbaro in the desperate attempt to finally have a Triple Crown winner.

If anyone is betting Hollywood Park on Friday night, a horse I cashed on at 12-1 in his last race, Popaki, is running in the 5th race. He's 10-1 and might have a shot in this huge field. He broke his maiden last time closing up the rail to win by a neck and doesn't take too big a step up in class.

Slew, I respect you alot brother, but you are too much
        in love with Brother Derek.

5 Reasons why Barbaro wins the Preakness

        1. Last Qtr in 24.1

        2. Was 9 1/2 lenghts in front of Derek,while
        jockey stood still.

        3. Horse has perfect style.

4.Edgar Prado knows Pimilco race track better
        than anyone

5.Barbaro is fresh and still hasn't reached his prime.

Barbaro will win the triple crown if he stays healthy,
he is bred to run 2 miles, and he looks to be peaking
at the right time. Matz has done a terrific job with
Barbaro. He is the real deal!!!

I still think Brother Derek is the horse to win this race. I'm real concerned about the limited layoff time for Barbaro so I will not be betting Barbaro to win in this race.

          My trifecta will be:

          Brother Derek
          Like Now
          Barbaro

I'm gonna box that $24 and bet $5 across on both Like Now and Brother Derek. $54 total for me........ Good luck to everyone. I can't see myself betting on Barbaro alone simply because of the price.

More frustration somewhat tonight in this race.

Popaki goes off at 35-1. I played him across the board and with the 9-5 favorite in the exacta. He broke a little slow, moved from 10th to 5th turning for home and closed fast up the rail for 3rd behind a 40-1 shot and the winner, the 9-5 favorite. Paid $12 to show.

I'll have to play him again next time. Better trip and he could have made my exacta.

I liked Harlington as well but passed because I never seem to cash with Todd Pletcher's horses. Poor effort here and a lousy race as well. They were crawling home in the last furlong. You won't see any of these horses win anything big down the road.

I agree Barbaro looks good, and if Brother Derek doesn't beat him here, I don't see anyone else in the field doing it. I just think one race doesn't convince me he's a great horse. He was not visibly impressive in his two wins at Gulfstream before freaking in the Derby.

I like the fact Brother Derek never stopped running hard despite a trip that he wasn't used to (wide and well off the pace). Many horses would have quit and not finished in the Top 10. I think Brother Derek wins easily on Saturday but if he doesn't, I hope Barbaro does so we see a Triple Crown attempt.

Any values in the following Prop wagers for the Preakness?
Not looking at matchups of the top horses rather the bottom of the field.

                    Going with Barbaro to win.
I expect that Sweetnorthernsaint and Brother Derek will have better races today. Not familiar with the rest of the field.....

Just an opinion but I like that Diabolical at +170 prop. I don't think either one will be in the Top 3 but I like Diabolical as a very long shot.

I wish there was more to analyze in this race but I think it comes down to 2 horses for the most part, Barbaro and Brother Derek.

I've never bet horse racing, but I was wondering where you guys bet horses. I checked Pinnacle, and you can either pick a horse "to win" or pick "matchups". Is there is there a book that caters more to horse racing and offers more options such as "to show", etc bets? Thanks

                              For my exacta to win

Barbaro will need to win and either
                              Sweetnorthernsaint or Brother Derek will
                              need to finish exactly 2nd.

                              $50 Exacta 6(Barbaro) to
                              5(Brother Derek),7 (Sweetnorthernsaint)

                              $200 to win on 6(Barbaro)

I had Barbaro in the Derby!!

I just played a 50 exacta Barbaro and Bernadini ... With all the hype and millions of $ bet on him, Barbaro runs 50 yards and pulls up injured .... What a joke on us.

Barbaro was likely finished when he broke through the starting gate. How that happens in one of the biggest races of the year is beyond me. I know it doesn't look like much effort, but so much with these horses is mental, that usually spells doom. No way anyone could predict the horse would break his leg 100 yards into the race.

My pick (Brother Derek) was finished out of the gate when he broke last. Idiot ride by Alex Solis. He should have taken him back and tried to close. Instead he rushes the horse up full throttle and he was done by the turn.

I never thought the winner would be a factor here with just 3 career starts. Plus, he came from well off the pace.

Alex Solis has always been a cowardly jockey. He is not
