Does anyone remember the Olympic year when the US coach got the schedule mixed up and the athletes didn't show up in time for their meet? I think they were chilling in their room when the coach realized the mistake. I believe it was track & field and I think they had to forfeit. It was maybe 20 years ago.

I found the answer: the 1972 Olympics in Munich. The same year Mark Spitz won 7 gold medals and 11 athletes were murdered in Olympic Village.
