Figured someone should make money either fading or following. Will post picks whenever I play.

Line closed at 28.5.
Freo kicked a point in the last 30 seconds to make it 29.
Freo looked great to cover whatever line you took with 10 mins to go...
On that note: Are Aussie lines getting sharper??
1. Collingwood - moved 3 points, Collingwood covered easily.
2. Essendon: opened +1.5. closed evens. +1.5 was enough.
3. Port Adelaide: steamed from 19.5 to 16.5, although everyone was on Crows. Port won easy.
4. Hawks: moved 1 point toward eagles for no good reason (again, I'm assuming public were on hawks). Eagles covered
5. Melb - line was always going to move toward Melb, even before ablett injury. I got it at 33.5, was at 36.5 before Ablett was ruled out.
6. Freo game - already noted - again, I think public money had to be on Freo. Nth would have covered the opening spread.
7. Sydney - line steamed toward Sydney. Geelong were too good. Not sure who the public were on this game. Probably Geelong.
I've looked at this for this season and end of last season with very good results.
Only game where the line didn't move toward the winner was Sydney. Of all the games, I would have thought Port, Hawks, Freo (and Sydney) were all RLM plays, and from what I have seen over the last few weeks and end of last year, Aus lines are getting sharper...Comment -

#7Yep some of the lines have been right on the button. Caps off to the linemakers.
If your book offers the field goal option in betting , tonight would be the night to jump on it , wouldn't it? The two halves love nothing more than slotting over a sneaky drop goal. SportingBet have it at $4 that 1 or more will be kicked. Maybe worth a lazy lobster on it.
Anyone know if Rusty will be at the game tonight? The Bunnies like to show up when he is in town.Comment -

#8You are right, Gee. Many of the lines are dead on for AFL this year, with the exception of Gold Coast. And what about the 3 or 4 draws so far this year. Crazy. WTF was I thinking backing Suns without Ablett. Probably wouldn't of mattered, though. Fade the Gold Coast unless they are 80+ dogs, or 40+ point dogs against Richmond or Brisbane.Comment -

#9In round 3 the lines from 6 out of the 8 games were off by comfortable margins.
Round 2 had 5/8
Round 1 had 3/8
And by comfortable I mean 3+ goals. Sure they did well in round 4 but the sky isn't falling in just yet.Comment -

#10Twoways: yes. lines have been quite sharp and the line moves have been even more telling this year - something to consider looking at more. I've hit a ridiculous percentage this year already tracking AFL lines in conjunction w/ capping the game. very useful.
donkson:you are right. AFL betting lines are horribly inefficient.

#11I think there's a real chance to make some cash this season. The best results I've been having is taking Collingwood to be the first to 15, 25 and 35. They tend to get out of the blocks pretty quickly this season and especially when they're playing lower ranked teams it's money for jam. The first to 15 option normally pays about 1.30 and I fail to see any side out there who can run with their midfield...Last edited by Pherst; 04-18-11, 06:52 AM.Comment -

#27Screwed by the hook, Shifty. Hope you got better odds than me. Should have waited closer to game time, because of the Stuart news did bring the line down, and this game being a "must win" for GCT.
I did pretty well the past two seasons betting on AFL, though a slow start this year. Hopefully the wins will start tallying up.Comment -

Im liking the blues spread and ML for a little. Good luck tonight bro.
Any ideas on the raiders doggies game. Im torn. Think Canberra have gained some confidence after the melbourne game but they are gonna be missing dugan due to origin. And then I expect the doggies to fire because of their two straight losses but they will be without ennis. Both huge losses to each team.
I think I might just back the raiders straight up for $100 for the fun of it.
Again good luck this weekend mate. Will be checking in.Comment -
