A Horse Story.

This is for those that play horses at a sports book.

Saturday night one of five tracks I played was Northfield ... There was a Pick 4 on races 8,9,10 and 11 ... I mostly play at Youbet which is based in California and bets made are co-mingled (bets are placed directly at the track thru Youbet) with the track that you are playing ... The sportsbooks cover their own bets and payoff at what the track payoffs are.

I mostly played Youbet Sat. night but made a few bets at a sportsbook ... I played the Pick 4 from Northfield a $5 cold ticket at a sportsbook ... All 4 horses came in paying individually 6.40, 9.40, 42.40, and 11.80 ... Well, no one had the Pick 4 and the payoff was on 3 out of 4 which paid 53 and change ... I'm sitting with a $5 winning 4 for 4 and get the 3 for 4 payoff as my bets weren't recorded at Northfield ... If I had bet thru Youbet I would have had the entire pool.

There was also a Pick 3 on races 8,9 and 10 ... The Pick 3 paid $3,900 so the Pick 4 would have been sweeeeeeeeeet.

2 minutes after all this I had 150 WP on an 8-1 horse at Woodbine which was taken down when he interfered with a horse who was a non factor in the race ... Doesn't get much better than that.

On the bright side of things I had a huge night with a +5,600 with 15 winners on posted picks with several nice exactas.

I also had 8 of 11 at Pompano which I did not list as pic wasn't playing that track.

Moral of the story ... You may eat a perfect ticket played at a sportsbook if there is no winner at the host track.

that sucks. I will do my wins and some bets at a sportsbook but I always now play my pic3s and pic4s or my longies at xpressbet. I wonder what the entire pool was

kdmfox, Every horse bettor knows never make a bet that has a chance
to pay over 300-1 @ a sportsbook. You must be new.

actually not at all books. pinny allows up to 5k per race which is pretty good. The best time to use a book is for the rebates of course and because if you are putting down some bigger money you will not hurt the odds. I have seen a few races the fox and I are following get bet down hard and I know the fox did it. He just got unlucky because if someone had hit it at the track he would have gotten the entire thing at the book instead of getting half of the pool by betting at the track. The pic4s almost always have a winner.

I bet the Pk4's @ Santa anita. When I do it's with youbet so I can
get all the money. Why bet a PK4 at a sportsbook? Unless every horse
is under 5-2. It's just plain dumb.

I thought we all knew that.

santa anita has a huge pool. northfield does not. The pic4 pool was right around $3700 that night. Had someone hit the pic4 and he bet at the sportsbook then fox would have gotten the entire $9250 because obviously the pools are not co-mingled. Remember this was a $5 ticket. Had someone hit the pic4 and he bet at northfield then he would have gotten $2642. Probably 95% of the pic4s at northfield are hit because most races have 7-9 horses making wheel bets easier. Hell we all gamble and this was a gamble. He just happened to hit that lousy 5% chance nobody would hit the pool which means he gets nothing.

pic ... I got the 3 out of 4 payoff ... And I cleaned up on the 4 horses involved also, plus a $94 exacta I crushed with the $42 winner.

yep I know. I was just explaining something else. I am only playing mojo mama from mlands and cinderellas arn at northfield race 11. however, larrabee is driving and a monkey could do better.
