No reason to think any of those were fixes, you can usually see the tell tale signs of fixing in price movements and all of those games were pretty natural.

They are just burnt out and have some injuries, not much motivation either because most are wealthy

Sooner or later... people will simply stop betting on Tennis in my opinion only.

Why would people stop betting on an individual sport in which
+500 money lines are available for sharp bettors to take advantage of?

It's all about timing, motivation, and rhythm at this point. Some players are notorious for slacking after the last grand slam event, and come back with very little energy and effort in the final Master's Series events. Often times this can carry over into the Australian Open for some players. Better luck in Paris and Shanghai for those who tend to eat a lot of chalk...

Tennis is a sport I only bet when there is a major going on, and have time to watch and see how they are playing.

Players are at some of these meaningless events with appearance money pocketed and just don't care.

This was a major masters series event, so doubt it was lack of effort.

True, but I really wonder if the players really care at this time of the year.

After the US Open, I really don't pay attention to tennis until the Australian Open, and unless I watch how a player is doing in a few warm up events, it is hard for me to
say how they are really playing (or if they are injured).

Many of the top players hadn't even played since the US Open, so it's not like they were in top form coming in. Contrary to what many might think, the prize money here is very little compared to what some of the top players pocket in endorsements. In addition, the majority of the rankings are established at this point late in the year, so there are very few players with much at stake in terms of significance in the points race. Obviously this is not a particularly great tournament if you just like to bet all favourites without regard to price or form....

Will Davenport make a successful comeback, is Serena Williams going to get over the backlash over acting like a poor loser, and can Sharopova get her focus back?

Upsets happen in sports everyday...no reason tennis should be any different. Taking the moneyline on heavy favorites is generally a bad idea. You really need to watch these players from the 1st round to get a feel for their chances to win or lose their next match. Problem is that a lot of these small tournaments aren't televised outside their respective country.

The ATP just fined Davydenko $2,000 for "lack of effort" in the Cilic match.

I am beginning to think there is really an issue there...........
