The name for the indoor women’s football league that plays in Kent is changing again.

Kent has had a team based at the accesso ShoWare Center since 2009. But what was known as the Seattle Mist will become the Seattle Thunder. Seattle is scheduled to be one of eight teams and had a tryout for players Jan. 5 at the Tacoma Soccer Center.

Seattle plays the Los Angeles Black Storm at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, at the ShoWare Center. The Thunder also plays a home game at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, against the Nashville Knights.
“One of sports’ most-anticipated debuts kicks off Saturday, July 18 at accesso ShoWare Center, when the Extreme Football League (or X League) officially begins inaugural season play,” according to promotion on the ShoWare Center website. “If you want to experience a high-energy atmosphere with some of the most fiercely athletic and beautiful female athletes in the world, playing passionate 7-on-7 full-contact tackle football, then pick up your tickets to the Seattle Thunder home opener.”
Tickets are $65 for field level, $45 for lower sideline, $35 for lower end zone, $30 for party zone, $25 for upper sideline and $15 for upper end zone.
The other teams in the league include the Austin Sound, Denver Rush, Chicago Blitz, Atlanta Empire and Omaha Red Devils.
