The New York Jets may be without Coach Todd Bowles when they take on the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium on Saturday. The team announced that Bowles was admitted to the hospital Friday afternoon with an undisclosed illness and is in stable condition. He did not travel with the team to Foxborough, Mass.
The Jets said that in the event Bowles is unable to coach Saturday, assistant Mike Caldwell would serve as interim head coach for the game. ESPN’s Adam Schefter later indicated via Twitter that Bowles will indeed miss the AFC East showdown and that Caldwell will lead the Jets. But two writers who cover the Jets, the New York Daily News’s Manish Mehta and ESPN’s Rich Cimini, believe Bowles has a chance to make it to Gillette.
