Arizona Cardinals Are Least Fined Team In NFL
As bad as things have gone this season for the Cardinals overall, the team has experienced its share of good tidings, as well.

It hasn’t just been the terrific performances continually being turned in by running back David Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald and a handful of players on defense, either.

Did you know, for instance, that the Cardinals are the NFL’s least-fined team in the league?

Arizona is the only club to accrue less than $100,000 in overall fines from the league office for various infractions such as unsportsmanlike conduct, illegal hits, uniform violations and excessive celebration.

Through 14 games, Cardinals players have been hit with just five fines worth a total of $69,885. That’s a sharp contrast compared to most teams, including the Eagles, who have been fined a league-high $4,848,250. The Bears rang up fines of $3,860,922, while the Redskins have been charged $3,201,345.

Asked what it means to him, coach Bruce Arians said, “That we play the game the way it’s supposed to be played – physical, fast and smart.

“We talk about things like that, proper targets, going down the middle, you practice things like lowering your target,” he added. “A couple of fines I don’t agree with; you’ve got to play football sometimes. But yeah, I think (the discipline) actually starts in OTAs.”

Those among the least fined other than the Cardinals include the Rams ($100,270) and the Raiders ($106,346), who actually lead the NFL in on-field penalties accepted with 124. In terms of penalty flags, the Cardinals are tied for 17th with 94 penalties accepted and 24th in total penalty yards.

At least one NFL wide receiver has had to pay more than the Cardinals have as a team. The Giants’ Odell Beckham Jr., has been fined $108,926. The Steelers’ Antonio Brown, meanwhile, has been fined $63,809.
