Gemologist's trainer said he preferred him outside the speed so the 15th post is not bad. Of all the lower priced horses, I like him the best. Already has 2 wins over the Churchill Downs track.

I could see a closer in the midst of it all. I'll go with 10 to be the closer. I wish Bodemeister was a little farther to the outside, but I can see him getting past Union Rags and dueling down the stretch with Hansen. Calvin Borel at #3 is a threat, because he could easily get Indy Charge to the rail. I just don't know. It's tough.

Bode will never pass Union Rags, he will likely be ahead of UR for a while but once UR passes him it is over for Bode.

Hanson really has dropped off in popularity as of late, But this horse has looked great this week according to reports and is full of energy. I like his post postion and I am leaning toward him with my pick. I really only see 3 horses that I think have no shot of winning this.

His knock is that he hasn't improved much from 2 yr old to 3 yr old and he is a huge colt so he may have traffic problems /have a hard time getting going without a clear run in this big field.

I just watched the Florida Derby replay and this same scenario that you suggest is pretty much what happened. But there are some that think Martz was saving the horse for Derby.

Not crazy with his jockey. A veteran jockey could handle him better.

Yeah he definitely wasn't all out or fully cranked for the race.Imo those who say he hasn't improved from 2 to 3 are misguided.
