Of the 3 low odds horses Union Rags is the only horse that has run around 2 turns. However, according to Thorograph, and DRF this Gulstream 1/16 mile track is usually speed favoring. That may give the advantage to Pletcher's horses(Algorithms, Discreet Dancer). I will probably play one of these 3 horses(Whoever goes off at better odds). Also did the wet track in Algorithms last race boost his figure, as he is bred to run on wet tracks.

Gulfstream Park yesterday showed that the rail was not the place to be. It was deeper than the outside all day long. No horse won from the rail, speed or closer. Every winner was 3-4 wide except two and those horses were 2-3 wide. That is not to say that a speed horse can not win, but it would be best served to stay in the 3-4 path if you are running towards the front, although unless the track was worked this morning which is doubtful, speed will probably struggle today as well.
The wet track most certainly did boost Algorithms last number, combined with the fact that the quality of race boosted it and most importantly, the perfect, and I mean perfect, trip that he enjoyed in that race. He will be a play against almost assuredly at his presumed odds.

I call bullshyt on the popped splint.I'm thinking that Pletcher scratched Algorthms to clear the way for Discreet Dancer. This way he can get graded stakes earnings for the derby trail.

Mike, that splint did not pop yesterday or this morning in all probability. However, they do go from nothing to something over night.
Let's see when he works again. If he works out at any distance in the next 2 weeks, you are spot on. There is no way you work a horse that quickly after a splint pops.
Also, splints are no big deal. This is by no means a permanent problem, but left unattended they can become problematic.

Union Rags destroyed this field. Too bad Algorithms did not run. May not have made a difference, but it would have been good to find out.
