Anyone can answer

all the races that day were starter stakes..to be eligible you had to have started for $8k or less going back to the beginning of 2020..if he didn't start for $8k prior to the races showing the claim in the last race makes him eligible for this race..owner/trainer probably had that in mind when he claimed him

no it is just that he happened to qualify because he ran for $8k in his last race.. didn't look at the whole field but you can be a stakes horse and run in a race like this.. i would say on average these type of fields are about as talented as double the starter price (so in this case it would be $16k claimers )
