She is moving in the right direction. Both Thorograph and Timeform think she is a decent wager at a price. By Tapit so she is bred for the distance. According to Timeform it's likely to be a fast pace and her running style may fit well. Also 2nd highest last out speed figure according to Brisnet.Who do you like Mr Gin? Thanks for your reply. I also like the 8, after all she cost $1.15 Million. I like her tactical speed, not too far off the pace and not too close. I think there is gonna be a good pace and with a lot of horse coming together at the far turn coming for home. A lot of horses will probably really wide. Think the #8, will staying our trouble and save some ground as well. Hopefully, she has the punch to finish. I also like the #12, Cahtryn Sophia, just can't ignore Castellano on grass and big races. And love that pedigree of Street Cry and Mineshaft. I'm trying to put together the Oaks/Derby double. To me, the Derby is as wide open as it can get. Gonna see some juicy $$. Good info. Yeah according to Thorograph Cathryn Sophia is clearly the fastest horse coming into the race. Maybe her first try around 2 turns explains her last effort. I used the 1/3/4/12 with the 8. My thought on Mo Tom is that I don't think he will get the distance. I am a true believer in pedigree for the Derby. Tom is out of Rubiano whom I am pretty sure is a sprinter or may be a mile tops kind of horse. Therefore, because of that, I don't like his chances. As of now, from the pedigree stand point, I like the 3- Creator and the 18-Majesto. I think Mo Tom is a lot faster than he appears given he all but stopped in the stretch last 2 races. Although you see Lanerie as a positive he is the reason Mo Tom had no where to go last 2 races trying to fit in holes that weren't there instead of going wide.Originally posted by harthebar

Favor Gun Runner #5 for the Derby. He has tactical speed without much speed to his immediate inside or out. He should be able to get a stalking position early and save ground throughout. 3 of his 4 wins have come by securing an inside trip. I realize his numbers come up light compared to some of the horses in the field, but according to Thorograph he is primed to run a new top figure. He also has raced just twice this year. Seems that is a pattern that fits well for the Derby. Has raced 5 times and the only time he did not win was on a sloppy track at Churchill. Has moved forward every start and with longer distances. Currently 9/1 in early betting. Using the #5 and covering with the 17,19,20. Also will look to see what STR has to say tomorrow about the field. GL.Comment -
