Florida Derby only 8 Starters for a Million
It's a quality field, if small for a Million Big Ones.
The Joker in the deck for me is Flashpoint. Will
he be able to ration his speed for first try at the
9 furlong distance. He's bred for sprinting and
is unbeaten doing so, so far.

Will Soldat who seems also to like the front end
when racing on the dirt or To Honor And Serve be
willing to test Flashpoints speed and perhaps
    compromise their chances?

I think the race sets up for Dialed In if he's good
enough. Stay Thirsty has the beautiful angle of
being within a head or neck at the stretch call and
drawing off to win by a length and a half or more,
which is great for repeaters. Just have doubts about
his class after the thumping given him by Uncle Mo.

Any opinions or picks greatly appreciated.
    Good Luck All

    Heres the field.

    FLORIDA DERBY | PURSE: $1 MILLION | GRADE 1 | 3-YEAR-OLDS

    1. Soldat 9-5
    2. To Honor and Serve 4-1
    3. Arch Traveler 20-1
    4. Bowman's Causeway 20-1
    5. Shackleford 20-1
    6. Stay Thirsty 8-1
    7. Dialed In 8-1
    8. Flashpoint 6-1

Dialed In looks very tasty at 8-1

I don't think there is anyone here who can go with Flashpoint and if the track carries speed like it has been then he could be long gone.It would set up a Flashpoint/The Factor duel in the Kentucky Derby and that would be something.Probably killing either of their chances.

I would love to see Flashpoint in the Derby as i need as much speed as i can get in the Derby for Dialed In.

I got Dialed In at 15-1 in a future bet and he is at 6-1 now.

I took Dialed In also in the 1st pool.Think we need him to get 1st or 2nd to get enough earnings to get into the Kentucky Derby(3rd might do it).Would be a shame if he didn't get in while the Sunland Derby/Spiral Stakes/Tampa Derby winners all get in with no chance at winning.

I'm sure we all realize that 8-1 ML is from
fantasy land, but perhaps 3 or 4 to one may
be possible. Good Luck with your future and
            pool wagers.

Soldat is head and shoulders the best horse in the race, if the jockey rates him off flashpoint he'll win easy, if he tries to run with him theyll both be dead

My feeling is most trainers these days are trying to keep there "chargers" fit BUT fresh for the grueling Kentucky Derby. That is a calvary charge and a lot of bumping happening.

So they are getting enough stakes earnings to secure a spot ..then just keeping there animals in training for the first Saturday in May.

My pick Bretheren...but looks like he might not make the starting gate.......

Rider switch to Gomez will only help.

Zito won the derby last year with icebox. Soldat not to win was the best wager, I should have took it. Soldat started off far too back

Icebox was second in the Derby, and did nothing after that. He's still in training though for a 4-year-old campaign.

My pick, To Honor Serve, had nothing and was lucky to get third. He couldn't even pass a 60-1 shot.

Sorry, wasn't clear with my post, I meant zito won with icebox at the florida derby, Icebox came in second at the kentucky derby behind super saver . Thanks for the info on him, I haven't seen anything from Icebox in awhile.
