Only time it is a complete scratch is if one of the coupled entries is scratched at the gate.

Don't agree with you there, this was a special case. This is clearly an exception, don't think we need to rewrite the rules for it.

Generally people like having multiple horses in these paired offerings, but if only one has a legit shot (like this one), then they shouldn't be stuck with the second half.

You can take it out, it doesn't matter to me, but i specifically stated 1a, I cap by horse and 1a was my top choice, but horse 1 was way down my list that is why I didn't post 1/1a. Just tell me how to state it in the future and I will get it done!
Again, if you want to take the 7.60 away, not a problem, but I did cash a ticket on the #7 for real money

Don't like that ruling one bit. Makes it very difficult to play these paired entries, since often they cut out the better half, which leaves us stuck with the donkey.

Should have the option to opt out, imo.

Other bigger contests we will be in... you get both halves of the entry....Scratch or no scratch.....that is what the gamble is.

I've always been a rules are rules kinda guy. That comment was made to me once by a golfer.... rules are rules , it struck me as somewhat funny , it was the way he said it , I guess !
Of course we play by rules .
In golf they tend to help the player when in doubt if there is an infraction .
The same applies here .
If you want the #1 entry , you post it that way #1e .... this means that both entries need to scratch in order to go to an alt.

I still don't know which one you get if both is scratched .... post time fav or the ml fav .... I know that a player should get the ml fav because you should not receive a post time fav because the post time fav may get heavy action and may be a hot horse even if the horse was , lets say 10 /1 in the ml .
I don't think it would be fair for a player to get a horse that has been bet down to a post time fav.

This has came up before and we decided as long as you made it clear then you could seperate the entries.For example if you post 1a then you only get 1a but if you post just 1 then treat it as 1e.I'll find the thread.I think it was Bbrobozo that wanted it cleared up.

dont think anyone has ever had a question on this. We will make a rule for future contest base on what everyone wants. If both your picks get scratched you get the post time fave.
