a 1000 bankroll for entire day play how you want. supers, pk's whatever. best roi wins it.

This is my favorite format for contests when playing with "fun" points/money.

100 points = $100 dollars.

You can bet nothing to your whole bankroll on any race. Win/Place/Show only.
As you post you show your running total.

When wagering in race three. You post like below. There will be a template set up to just fill in too.

ie ) Starting Bankroll: $100
Last wager: Race 2 $50 win 3 Blame
Current Bankroll: $560 (no breakage. all cents are lost)
Next wager: Race 3 $50 Win Number 2 Zenyatta.
Remaining bankroll: $510

To prevent an all-in fest. For the last two races, you can wager only 50% of your bankroll on the second last race, 25% in the final race.

Fair, simple plus it lets me see good cappers pick to wager on for real.

I will do a heads up or simple 3 person contest too.
Remember: each race will have about a 35 minute post time. So lots of time to kill.

Later in the week we will see how many we have for sure.

There is no Show betting over there.Its just win/place.The place pool includes the horses that finish 2nd and 3rd.

how about: one of the books that advertise here and we all belong to step up and sponsor a gd contest like the good ol days when we could transfer as many pts as we wanted and we were all pretty much on the same level (pros vs non pros).
bet jam sponsored a contest at ultimateselectors site last year and it kicked ass....
i believe bet phoenix did one for the preakness. the greek could always throw us a bone here in the horse forum. as could bodog.

aggie: 100 pts? 50% on 2nd to last race? 25% in final? what?! thats how legends are made in contests my friend and thats where you'll see who's a good capper and who isnt. darwins theory applies in horse racing too. if you're good-you're good. if you're not-you're not.

hopefully Reload knows some trees to shake to make this happen.

I don't like the format proposed by Aggieshawn.For one whoever gets the lead first has a huge advantage.I think it should be mandatory to wager a certain amount on every race.

Yes, you can bet any amount of horses any which way to your bank total.

I don't like fun contests where the leader is the best for 9 races. Then race 10 everyone else picks a longshot and bets all of their cash. Since it is not real there is no risk. Then the last race luckiest guy wins.
That sucks.

Same deal with betting one horse per race. Too much luck.
I like the contests where you can build a bankroll and use it.

My opionion.

you do realize that there are otb's, actual tracks and off shore accts that'll take your real $ all day and night for the dubai world cup-dont you?

Cecil127 - I am not to sure where you think you can spend SBR points. However, I think you will look like a fool trying to place a wager with them at your local OTB.

We are playing here for fun SBR points. Not real money. This is a little contest to kill a few minutes between the 35 minutes post times. So I have no idea what you talking about.

exactly my point, fool. these are sbr pts and if someone bets a longshot in the 2nd to last, last, or the 1st phucking race-its only sbr pts

Name the contest I am game!!!

To your point however. Not very many people will join for a 100 points period (I read). So the ones that do join will not wager all of there points on a first race longshot. They will want to have fun for getting up so early in the morning.
They will bet how they handicap. Only at the end of the contest when their dreams are dashed will people start betting longshots with a hope and a dream.

We've got one in the works at SBR for the Kentucky Derby but one for the Dubai World Cup would have to just be amongst us serious horse players.

I'm up for ideas - hopefully we can put together something and have some points on the line against each other.

any possibility of SBR putting up a few hundred pts for a the 1st, 2nd, 3rd place finishers? ive never played poker or the sports trivia but it seems like there's no shortage of pts going around....esp if you're the one "printing them" that is.

horse players love sbr.....even the non poker playing sbr horse players

looking forward to the KD contests as well as the other 2 jewels of the TC.

I think I'll try to give some of my own points away with a Dubai contest. Will look over the entry fields today and see if I can come up with a good format. Stay tuned
