I keep getting emails from the "Professional Handicappers Association." They have quite a few horse racing strategies on their website, for sale of course. A few of them look pretty interested.

Do any of you know what these folks are all about?

If you are a novice at the track and want to dabble with a system, well, whatever, but be forewarned.
Systems do not work in the long run. The only person making money off of it is the guy selling it.
Spent 28 years at the track and no system works over time.
Hard work, patience and acquired knowledge works!

            Systems can work long-term.

I use three system/selection methods that have each shown monthly profits for more than 3 years ... (Just 4 losing months between them out of a total of 108 months of selections)

.. generally .. commercial systems won't show long term profit ... as the amount of people using them will affect the odds .. which will effect profitability.

Believe it or not I met Sprint Rodgers on several occasions in Lake Tahoe. He is a real nice guy and seemed like he was on the up and up. I never bought into his system, in fact I don't even know how it works but he did take me to school at Harvey's race book a few times. One night he even took my wife and I along with his wife cathy to dinner and just about everyone in the restaraunt knew him. I can'y give you any background on his system but he is genuine.

                Interesting mrkron.

I love going to the race track. I've tried quite a few systems and strategies over the past few years. I've also read a couple of good books by steven crist

But when it comes down to it, it seems that I can get about the same results by just picking randomly. I feel like I've wasted a lot of time with all this crap.

I'd really like to somewhat shadow a couple of old-timers...just to see how they do things.

Seriously ... much easier to have a winning "system" if you don't have to use the tote for your payouts ...

example ... BSP is the odds you can get from betfair ... compared to the odds you can get on the tote ..

check the last 50 plays you made ... figure out the profit .. then figure it out to Betfair SP ...
an awful lot of losing systems are actually winning systems ... hidden behind crap odds.

See what you mean about better payouts.
Really thought you were talking about traditional systems like wheel the Fav. 2nd in the exacta and stuff like that.
Anywhere that you can get a better payout and or rebates win or lose all lends itself towards gaining an edge and that's the name of the game.
Best of luck and happy holidays.

Nah - I have one that focuses on certain trainer angles, and a couple that look at speed/pace to find selections .. of course if you can regularly beat the closing tote SP by around 30% .. it makes things MUCH easier

If you ever have a question about trainers, I was one for 25 years in Eastern USA.
                            Happy to help if needed.
