$1.26 Million Santa Anita Pick 6 Carryover!
(Paraphrasing from Herb Brooks' speech in Miracle)

Great moments... are born from great opportunity. And that's what you have here, tonight, boys. That's what you've earned here tonight. One play. If we played it ten times, we might lose nine. But not this play. Not tonight. Tonight, we pick with them. Tonight, we stay with them. And we shut them down because we can! Tonight, WE are the greatest handicappers in the world. You were born to be gamblers. Every one of you. And you were meant to be here tonight. This is your time. Their time is done. It's over. I'm sick and tired of hearing about what great professional handicappers they are. Screw 'em. This is your time. Now go out there and take it!

Good luck fellas! Will post my play as soon as I have it. If it isn't me, I hope its an SBRer!

Santa Anita carryover hits $1.2 million
    By STEVE ANDERSEN
ARCADIA, Calif. - A three-day pick six carryover of $1,269,223, the largest of the winter-spring meeting, will be the focus of Monday's 10-race program at Santa Anita.

The pick six has not been hit since Thursday. Sunday, the bet proved impossible to solve after favorites were beaten in the first five races.

The program begins at 12:30 p.m. Pacific. The first pick six race is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.

The first leg is an optional claimer over a mile on turf. Ainamaa, unraced since winning an optional claimer last May, has drawn the rail, and must beat Siamese Cat, who was recently transferred from trainer Graham Motion to Gary Mandella. Exclusive Danielle and Silver Moonshine are threats from the front, while Red State Rules is a danger from off the pace.

Norway House, who starts from the rail, will be favored in the sixth race, a $10,000 claimer over 1 1/16 miles. He finished second at this level on Jan. 26. None of the eight entrants won their last start. The Rye Man, a three-time winner last year, will be closing. The early leader may be Quiet Period, who finished fourth behind Norway House on Jan. 26 after leading by as many as six lengths early.

There are 13 entrants in the seventh race, a maiden claimer for 3-year-olds over 6 1/2 furlongs. True Suggestion, third and fourth in his first two starts, is the 7-2 favorite on the morning line. The race is without a standout. Classy Attraction will be part of the early pace, but may not be effective at 6 1/2 furlongs.

The $150,000 Buena Vista Handicap for fillies and mares over a mile on turf is the day's feature race. The field of nine includes Black Mamba, who has been second or third in her last four stakes appearances; Trick's Pic and I Can See, the first two finishers of the Tuzla Handicap last month; and Alexandra Rose, the winner of the Grade 3 Monrovia Handicap on the hillside turf course on Jan. 1.

The ninth race is a maiden race for 3-year-olds over 1 1/16 miles that has drawn 12 entrants. Tiz Now Tiz Then, well-regarded by trainer Eoin Harty, but winless in four starts, starts from post 2. He must beat Medjool, sixth in the California Derby on Jan. 27; Catasaire, who makes his first start on a synthetic track after four losses on turf; and Thrust, a well-bred first-time starter trained by Neil Drysdale.

The final race is a one-mile turf race for $40,000 claimers. Six Cents of Humor is scratched. Royal Prana, trained by Mike Machowsky, will be closing from off the pace. Britney Heat is drawn wide, but has run well in recent starts.

There is also a carryover of $86,043 in the $1 Super High Five, which requires bettors to correctly select the first five finishers of the last race.

As a matter of course holiday race cards have a history of yielding longshot winners. I'm keeping this in mind as I open the form the scope out the printed material. My style is playing a $24.00 to $36.00 ticket and hope to get lucky. Its tough when you are up against five figure tickets. The carryover makes things interesting but I learned not to get carried away.
I have business in the l.a. area tomorrow which includes an on track appearance at Santa Anita for a handicapping contest.
Let's make some more coin tomorrow.

Impossible! Too wide open for me to get involved. However any serious tickets should include:
5th #1 Ainamaa/Lots of talent here but 10 months off a big? mark
6th #1 Norway House/ Very logical, I give the #3 Manhattan Express a look off the reclaim.
7th #3 Classy Attraction has the best form. #8 Forgiving Spirit #10 Colony Trick and #12 True Suggestion have big shots in a tough heat.
        8th I have no clue
9th Small lean to #7 Catastaire and #8 No lien Here in a grabbag. #12 Pearl Fisher has shot.
        10th Impossible. Too wide open.

Thanks for the tips man... it certainly will be tough. Got 8 people in with me for 100 each so I can at least put a respectable ticket together.
