i would say keep it the same way with no exoctics the way all the tourneys ive played are played people can just pick bombs and play exactas and steal the whole tourney with one hit. ive seen this done on ultimate selectors tourneys many times and i myself dont like playing like that. just handicap the race and put your best value horse up as a pick. wp winner takes all

this might spice up the pool, say 10 people enter @6 points=60, mike take 1 point from each entry per day put in bonus pool, pay the winner 50 points for days win, bonus pool now has 10 points, next day do the same,, if the same player wins back to back contests 2 days in a roll, he would win the daily pool & the bonus pool,, the bonus pool would grow everyday could get up to nice total,, if joeyp's #7 would of held on,, he would of took the bonus also for 2 wins in a roll, just a thought,,
