        bigger purses don't attract horse race bettors. bigger fields do. they need to cut racing dates to insure bigger fields, thus bigger payoffs.

          But bigger purses will bring horses. Minimum purses at Finger Lakes are under $5K, at Philly it is over $20K, where would you run?
