    Santa Anita back to DIRT
"We were mandated to put in synthetics…I never did like it…(but) we learned from it and I hope we never do something like it again," Stronach said in an 18-minute address, followed by a short question-and-answer session, before an estimated 250 horsemen and observers.
"I’m committed to put in a new dirt track."

This is good news. Hopefully the rest of the California tracks switch back to dirt as well.

The word 'mandated' sounds like it may be tough to overcome

I've seen the reports of this but I haven't seen anything that indicates that the Board actually approved this. I would like to assume that he has some "guarantee" that he will not run afoul of the Board.

if it goes it'll be interesting to see how many problems they have initially with the surface, with drainage and such

It appears as if Oak tree will be at Hollywood park this fall while they change the surface. Long overdue.

Pretty sure Stronach didnt even want Oak Tree at Santa Anita. He doesnt gain anything from them mooching his course and this will ensure their is enough time to put the dirt in anyways.
