Anyone watch the tv show documentary about Shane Sellars taking on the quest to allow jockeys to ride at higher weights because of what happened to his friend Randy Romero becoming ill over a career of holding weight down?Would anyone object to having jockeys being able to ride at higher weights?
I used to think that jockeys were really abused and independent rugged individuals without a voice but on occassion lately the jockey guild has started making demands that are getting absurd.First mistake was to hire Jesse Jackson as a spokesman.Gary Stevens was on tv saying that state rights horse racing commissions should be overruled by a centralized commission that should be formed.Yikes,Washington DC calling the shots for what goes on at your local track!!!That spells trouble. Can you imagine the rules they would impose.Stuff like, you can be blind and still be a jockey.etc.
