    Flightline

I have to get you guys comments on this guy. I wonder what we have, he looks like a beast. I am looking forward to his next race. Looks like the Whitney or Pacific Classic. The stretch out will be interesting. He made the Met. Mile look like a public workout.

I think he could be a generational talent..

pedigree, cost $1M auction so lots was expected to begin with..I like to factor that in when assessing a big performing horse..huge beyers

think it'll be the whitney..can't see them sending him a 1 1/4 unless there's something at 1 1/8 inbetween ..have a hunch Whitney and if that goes well then they'll have to decide between bc mile or classic

dam as a 2yo just missed by a head debuting at saratoga and then won by almost 10 in her 2nd start there...as a 3yo a win and a 2nd there..graded stakes winner routing and missed by less <1 length in the Hollywood oaks at 1 1/4 miles

then you have tapit (distance, class)on top. going long shouldn't be an issue (based on pedigree anyway )

thanks pigpen..wasn't aware of the younger full brother..interesting to see if he starts at saratoga like the dam or they wait till he's 3 like his big brother

if he does wind up going to and winning the whitney and then follow up with a breeders cup win I think he could be worth $80-100M as a stallion

    Impressive four race start.

I would guess the Pacific Classic if he stays west and needs more time or Whitney if doesn't need as much time , then Breeders Cup to close out the year.

He will definitely run into better fields in those races. It makes me want to go up to the SPA more on Whitney weekend if he's running.

I think between the dam's success at the spa and the distance being 1 furlong extra they will do the whitney..it would also give them more of an option to cut back or go further at the bc because either way it's a furlong..guess who the competition is might play into it also..it'll be packed there if he decides to go this route..no pun intended lol

just saw that they moved the woodward back to the belmont fall meet this year..it goes on 10/2 and a race that would be well placed between the whitney and bc classic..have a hunch they'd just wait though especially factoring how well he ran in the met mile last out off an extended layoff..also at belmont 1 1/8 miles is around 1 turn (only track where this happens) while either bc race would obviously be 2 turns..placing the race where they did they must feel it might be used as a stepping stone to the classic for some contenders

nice pedigree to me for these reasons..

tapit an elite sire himself..was up to $300k a few years ago

3 paths back to mr prospector (a lot)

    2 paths back to secretariat

    2 paths to northern dancer

the dam is by indian charlie (sire of uncle mo..170k fee and much less common)

    and

the dam is out of a dynaformer mare (high class elite sire and much less common)

think if you had a pedigree expert look at these bloodlines they would be very impressed, especially with the dam's sire and dam sire combination ..believe the "less common" I mentioned above is a good thing

that has to be a bad sign as his brother had already broken his maiden by 13 lengths in his debut.. interesting how he's viewed now with what his brother has done

I wouldn't have started the other thing but since easy put the ancestors down thought I'd trace to the major influences.. that's as far as I go lol

Looks like it's going to be the Pacific Classic, which is too bad because if it were Whitney I was going to go up to the SPA.

understand he's west coast based but really making a statement going a quarter mile further and 2 turns for the first time .. might have something to do with who the competition is I would guess... would've liked to see him at saratoga myself

if he wins the pc his following start will certainly be the bc classic..with the layout of kee @ 1 1/4 his speed will be a big asset as it looks like they start on the turn.. have to thinkthe track will probably be favoring it

winning the pc preceded by the met mile would be a very impressive feat..as big as the purses for these races are I think it's a lot more about what his final record is for stallion value

here is the path I see for him .. all these races are @ 1 1/4 miles

9/3 pacific classic $1M (committed already)

    11/5 breeders cup classic $6M

    (needed rest for long journey)

    3/25 dubai world cup $12M

    retired

if he wins these 3 (imo) one of the all time greats and a stallion worth around $100M

JBEX: I understand the dynamics of why the connections would retire flightline so soon, but IMO it hurts the sport overall. But $$ is $$$$$. See if your prediction rings true.

I guess another superstar Horse will arise as a 2/3 year old but it would be cool to see these type of ponies run into their 4th and 5th year.

imo this is a totally different situation..if he's able to complete that trifecta

he's going to be in consideration as one of the all time greats..I've seen him compared to frankel who many consider to be the greatest horse of the last 30-40 years but of course made his mark in europe..don't want to get into greatest horse of all time arguments btw lol

the purses become very small when you can be a stallion with probably about a $200k stud fee to start
