Some decent stakes races on Saturday. European grass horses shipping in for the stakes races but can never figure when they are good or overrated, so I'm tossing them all.
Anyone playing?
Race 7: No. 10 Rutherienne: This Clement trainee is an amazing 7 for 8 but doesn't seem to get much respect. Her win last out at Del Mar was awesome at 7-2. Late closer always vulnerable to the pace/trip but Gomez knows enough to go wide if he's got enough horse. No. 5 Bit of Whimsey and No. 6 Valbenny underneath.
Race 8: No. 2 Ginger Punch is getting real good for Frankel off blowout win at Saratoga. She beat No. 3 Miss Shop by 6 lengths and Miss Shop came back to win the Grade 1 Personal Ensign next out. Will play these two. No. 4 Take D'Tour beat top two picks in spring but hasn't raced in nearly 3 months and faces pace pressure from Miss Shop's uncoupled stablemate, Teammate.
Race 9: No real feel for this race. I think the US grass horses are weak but can't rely on the European runners either. No. 4 Trippi's Storm made a nice move at Saratoga but faltered late. Better timed ride might help. No. 2 Sunriver will be tough but don't like him if the price is too low.
Race 10: NY Bred allowance on turf. No. 10 In the Spotlight was full of run last out at Saratoga only to get buried inside under Samyn. Switch made to Desermoux and might be 10-1 or better.
Meadowlands Race 7: No. 1 Next Adventure. This colt ran a good race at Saratoga on Aug. 13 and got intimidated it seemed when trying to split horses at the 8th pole. Should get better trip in this minor stakes race. No idea about the price but likely 2 or 3-1.
