I use software - it turned my game around.

But if you try to use it as a black box you'll get buried. Can't fall into that trap.
Always keep in mind that it's only a tool - it can't predict the outcome. the best it can do is assign probabilities. You still need to use your head and focus on finding value.

In the end, you let the software do all the number crunching and analysis. Your job will be to interpret the analysis and decide whether it is worth a bet.

But yes, I recommend the software route - it's a real timesaver, especially in this era of full-card simulcasting.

Used to use Trackmaster, not a waste of money but I ended up going in a different direction.

Stick to handicapping hours in the Racing Form... You will be rewarded for your hard work! Computer Software will probably only spit out under priced favorites which have no value anyways!

hey bg handi wants to fly back to ny and put my system into a program so it would make things alot easier but i dont know if he can do it i have 25 different steps to do on each horse in each race. It would be awesome if he can. But we'll just have to wait and see. He's probaly gonna come around saratoga time

most of it is garbage, basically data manipulation, thats all..

I paid some $50 to create an excel template with all the calculations i needed using a trackmaster harness file.. Takes literally 2 minutes from file to calcs... thats your best route

If you're interested in horse racing systems, check out Ufuque's Lay System. Man, this guy is genius. He's posting on Racing Traders forum. (UK races only)

Everyone has an opinion on this subject, which pops up now and then here, and my thoughts on the subject follow.

I come form a pen/pencil, one maybe two tracks played at a time and believe each track has it's own way to turn out a profit - some have more than one (way) but they all have one. For example what works for a place like ID will not return the same at AQ as the two operate in different class levels. To be successful at a track, you need to watch it daily making trip notes, recording style, track conditions, etc - doing them properly takes time because once you have this information, you need to update your records daily.

Now, if a program would allow a person to filter for the different class levels and the racing data I would think it would be worth it but, I haven't come across such a product that can provide the type of results I like by doing the calculations by hand. From a time saving point of view, yes it would help but most of the programs don't give out winners paying more than $8 regularly. Yes, I do use 'software' for my database but it is only set up to view results of the meet and provide a summary for each type of race for the current meet(s). It also takes into account trainers, jockeys, post positions, etc. By know means is it a be all, end all tool but it helps finalize any choices when I like a couple (or more) for each race.

                            Good luck with your wagers.
