9-2-8...No good..Lost $2.80 for every 6 bucks I bet..Not too bad considering the upside when one of these go down..And they do run out..I've hit my fair share..

I hated maiden races when I started betting thoroughbreds about 11 years ago.. I didn't know anything about pedigree and the information out there was limited. But now there is plenty of information that will put you ahead of the general public. I figured maiden races are the publics weakest part in handicapping game..So why not learn what most don't know..

Good way to look at it. I haven't dealt with horse racing recently with the exception of the Triple Crown races and a day that I went to Tampa this past winter. My own approach to maiden races which was very profitable was to play select first-time drop downs from MSW to Mdn Clm races. These came in quite regularly and sometimes at significant prices. I have no idea if the market has adjusted for this or not at this time.

Monmouth race 1)..5 to wp.(one unit bet)..Sire With Distinction has produced 8 winners..All 8 have come at a distance less then 6 furlongs. First time starters win at a rate of 2x the average. The trainer is number one at this distance also..46% of 13 wins <6 furs. There are some negatives though..Workouts are very slow. Trainer with 1st timers is dismal.

How strange - I read this and placed a bet on the #1 instead of the #5 .... not complaining - but maybe I need a break from the computer. Was wondering why you would go win/place on a 8/5 shot.

Woodbine race 1)..5 to win ( 3 units)..No one in filed has ran par in the first two calls..This City Zip 1st timer should get out fast..They threw in a very slow work on Aug. 7th to try and throw us off..Not gonna work..

That 5 was a huge profit line overlay also..Oh well..Next!!!

I very rarely bet 8/5 shots..
