Absurd If True -NC Horse Racing status
No operators have applied for a license for online horse betting in North Carolina yet. Under current state law, operators must pay $200K annually or $1M for a five-year license, which is much higher than the next most-expensive state (New York at $20K per year).

really surprised it costs only $20k/yr for a license in ny ..would seem like something that would cost 100's of thousands

and they are 2nd most expensive to CAR. Looks like they will address this absurdity in the next session. I was wondering why no operator offered their services down here in NC?

only thing I can think of is they're looking for 1 operator but I'm probably wrong about that..maybe that explains the high price ..they get the whole state to themselves

yeah CAR has little experiences with the ponies. Not a horse state for the most part. But it is ridiculous IMO that they have priced themselves 10X higher than next closest state. Something amiss with that picture?

only thing that makes sense to me is what I said ..whole state might be worth it..can't imagine it's legal but they're just trying to discourage operators so it'll never materialize

                        That's a shame EZ.

                        They are not even trying.

                        Sorry man.

I know how disappointed you must be.

a bit frustrating but early in the process STR. Looks like they will revisit the terms soon in next session. Just hard to believe they finally legalize and in turn price the State out of the Market. will keep you updated.
