    Please grade this play/thinking
AQ R7 3/14. Keep in mind I'm the opposite of many. I often make 1 play, or a prototypical spot player.

    6 entries. #1 9-1, #2 5-1, #3 1-1, #4 11-1, #5 2-1, #6 13-1

    I really liked the #5.

    My play (or lack of) was $1 tri. 5/123/All, 123/5/All, 123/123/5. $30.

I ran through every iteration of this and came to the conclusion that the only value was if the result was 1/5/4 or 6. I decided to pass. Much to my chagrin, the 1 broke (more of a closer) and won handily, The 5 did his thing and ran a strong 2nd. And naturally the 4 holds on for 3rd. The tri pays $218 for a $1.

    Thoughts appreciated.

I think if you really like a 2-1 second choice in a 6 horse field it's a win bet only ..wouldnt bet place or get involved in triples unless I thought the even money favorite was vulnerable to run 3rd or worse

Think I would agree with JBEX on this in most scenarios.

        Thank you gentlemen.

I think where I got upset was that the 1 ran a strong third to the 5 (2nd) in the prior race. Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda. ;( Always easier in hindsight.

        Thanks again!
