#5Hey Madison, I think the Pegasus WC is wide open. I looked long and hard and I am going to step out on a wager that is not very attractive at first look but will play if the circumstances fall just right.
1/27 Gulfstream Park: Race 13:
#12 Skippylongstocking ML 8-1
The post is almost the kiss of death but I am hoping the gate position will increase the ML odds. I will void any single race wager on him if he does not float up to over 10-1, that is a must IMO. This guy has a lot going for him other than the post.
Likes the track: 9 (3-1-1).
Likes distance: 7 (3-1-1).
His figures on paper put him right there at the end.
Last race encouraging: BC Dirt Mile (G1) where he ran a great 3rd.
Trainer: Saphie Joseph running on his home track.
His running style may deter some as National Treasure is in this event and may go favored. His race in the BC Dirt Mile really sticks out and if he repeats that I think he wins but his odds will be too low for me. I am going to go ahead and play some horizontals and if Skippy's odds drift up will play him in the race itself.Comment -

I had 5 come out of my stable. Just spent 2 hours and didn't come to a solid feel for anyone. I did think OP R4 #9 Lemon Muffin looked real solid. It looked like there were some interesting others but I guess you need to beat the #8 Blue Squall to get value.
2 others were TP R9 Asmodeous and OP R6 Hit Scene but both coming off LONG layoffs circa 9 MO's. I never know what to do with these.
Chat later.Last edited by Madison; 01-26-24, 11:11 AM.Comment -

#9My best bet regardless of odd will be:
GP Race 6
1- Romagna Mia (ML 8-5)
Two long shots that I really like:
GP Race 5
3- Headline News (ML 15-1)
GP Race 11
12- Signator (ML 15-1)
Looks like a really good card at GP Saturday, do you see anything interesting?Comment -

#10FWIW
One surprise: Yu is completely fading Skippylongstocking, even though he's one of the top favorites at 8-1! "A well beaten seventh in this race last year, Skippylongstocking rebounded with some smaller stakes scores and finished the year a credible third in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile. Both 2023 scores were in frontrunning fashion on off tracks, and I don't think he's getting on the lead here even if it's a little wet. Hard to endorse," Yu told SportsLine.Comment -

#13Boy, OP R4 i liked 9/8. The 9 tooled the 8 last out. I had no confidence in the 4 getting all the $ off 9 mo layoff. Bet the 9 10wps and the 8 comes back and beats him. Don't get it.Comment -

#23Yeah, Romagna Mia sure was a disappointment; bet down to 3-5; no show
And Headline News was bet down to 6-1; third by 1/2 length...
Not a good start...Comment -

#27DRF Race of the Day GP Race 13- Pegasus World Cup 1 1/8 Dirt
$2WP 11- Crupi (ML 20-1)
think his running style will get him a good trip. Just lay money on these favorites. Not sure if the 7 will the lead, maybe 4,7 and 12 will all gun to the front. Can't find any trustworthy closer. Don't know why Gaffalione is not riding the 2- O'Connor which I like a lot too. Paco is having a great meet. He has hit triple digit Beyers before, 2nd off layoff, like GP and the distance. I pick the 11 because he has a similar running style as the 2, he is only 4 years old and can certainly improve. Gonna Ex box the 2 and 11, and mix in with the 4,7,8,12 underneath the tri.
What is everyone playing in this race??Comment -
