    galileo euthanized @ 23
mentioned him many times over the years in pedigree discussions..one of the greatest stallions of all time along with his sire "sadlers well" and one generation back "northern dancer"..private fee was estimated to be between €250k and €600k ($300k-720k)

fittingly he passes on the day his trainer (aiden o'brien) ships to belmont and sweeps the belmont oaks and derby..the latter race was won by a son of galileo "bolshoi ballet"

frankel being the best of all his sons and stands for about £175k..undefeated in 14 starts vs the best company..a truly phenomenal racehorse

Watched the race with Bolshoi Ballet - what a race...Ryan Moore took him for a RIDE...

So sad about Gailileo the Champion! What a history he has.

yeah saw the race also.. nice that he won yesterday although I had picked the 2nd place horse so a little bittersweet..admittedly more attuned to usa racing but his accomplishments as a sire are amazing as is the sire line he comes from

know he was a big time racehorse also but I think it's trumped by his stallion career

Galileo and Montjue, two of the best sons of Sadler’s Well; remember both of the when they were racing. Sad news for sure; but their legacy continues!! RIP

np str..I don't think there's a north american dirt sire that can compare to his european record..as great a sire as northern dancer (probably greatest of all time)was through many generations of runners this was his most impressive line..there's even some mr prospector blood in there as his dam sire miswaki was by him

I think this was poorly explained

                    ND.. northern dancer
                    sw.. sadlers well
                    gal.. galileo

you've got the greatest (ND) with sw and gal definitely top 5 and potentially 2 and 3rd.. then frankel may wind up 10 - 15 or maybe crack top 10..this is not only ND best line but possibly the best line in the 20th century (at least started in the 20th century as galileo's stud career is this century)

I think 2nd best ND 123 is with danzig and war front.. former was an elite sire and wf currently is one.. there are many other lines but the main point for posting this is I didn't like how I described it initially
