IMO this years crop is well below the standard. The Preakness was the weakest field I can remember. Interesting post draw. I always find it strange when the "pro" handicappers say "no pace" when horses stretch out to a distance they will not ever run again. I have a feeling that EQ will break running and challenge RYW plus the japan horse I expect speed. I think Prat sits right off them with Hot Rod and mows them all down. If any listed take back I can also see him on or just off lead. I think he's sitting on a monster race looking at his figures

Going to try and hit an exacta. $5 box 3/8 $5 box 4/8. Like the progression of figures on the #8 Overtook and shades go back on. And I think the most likely winner is #3 Rombauer or #4 Hot Rod Charlie. See what happens.

I think the 2 looks really tough on paper. But just betting on the favorite. A lot of experts like Known Agenda, but with Irad out, his chances just went down.....

There's one other concern I have with Essential Quality, and that's the fact he paddles with his left front leg. This stride abnormality hasn't been an issue for Essential Quality so far, but as a general rule, paddling can make it difficult for horses to stretch out over extended distances. There's a part of me that wonders if the 1 1/4-mile journey of the Kentucky Derby will prove challenging for Essential Quality to negotiate, especially if he receives a tricky trip.

I threw the #2 Essential Quality out of the mix based on the above take.

yeah me too. as a general rule I always look to beat the fav. Sometimes though they look too tough and I play them.

Favorite but maybe the first time starter made for less singles in leg 1. That's why I have more tickets in case it gets chalky for the first 5. Legs C and D will be likely where the rough and tumble starts and fouls up a lot of tickets. I hope I have the combos that fit!
