$200,000 Santa Monica Stakes (G2)
This race is projected to attract a small field of distaff sprinters. The potential headliners are Grade 1 winners Hard Not to Love and Spiced Perfection. Hard Not to Love, who only has vision in one eye,and returned to win the La Brea (G1) at Santa Anita on Dec. 28 for trainer John Shirreffs.
Spiced Perfection won three graded stakes last year, including the Keeneland's Madison (G1) for trainer Peter Miller. Most recently, she disappointed as the favorite in the Inside Information (G2) at Gulfstream.
