#42Yeah Getch Tough game it is. Really believe it takes years of experience to have any chance to make some regular major scores like those on the tournament sites. Having STR's thread is a great help and learning from each race you play is crucial. . But the rake at 20% is a killer on the pari-mutuel side. Anyhow let's keep plugging away. Hope for the best.Comment -

#48GL Gretch, there is a lot of action on your 9, ML 10-1, now is 4-1. I really don’t get the love on him. Maybe I’m missing something. I think the 1a is gonna break her maiden, love his pedigree especially for the mile. If I were to pick a long shot, I probably take the 8- Piantagrane ML 8-1, even though I don’t like Zito, nut he might get place. GL.
he lost by a neck at 9½ furlongs so he couldn't get that distance based on 1 try? and this bred for a mile pedigree stuff is baloney.. he's by lemon drop kid out of an el prado mare.. that's all day pedigree.. ldk avg winning distance 7.9f.. el prado avg winning distance is 7.5f.. way above average both of them
btw the love on the 9 was because as getch said he's very well bred and john velazquez was riding.. lonhro is a 30k stud fee and was a turf monster and the dam won 300k plus..iknow leo o'brien is a horrible trainer but his son n law is a pretty good riderComment -

#52Not sure why you are taking shots at Mr. G&T? Like I said everyone caps a bit differently. Part of the reason why this is a great game. And after about 500 plays MR. G&T is about even. Year long thread. I do not care if he is throwing Darts he produces. LOL. And neither imo should you. As for the pedigree stuff it makes some sense. But maybe Mr. G&T looks at other angles.Comment -

#53so all the handicapping you do on here you're saying it doesn't matter to you whether he uses sound logic to make his decisions ?? I'm not saying he doesn't overall but to say you don't care about the thought process going in is ridiculous... it's not true that he's bred to be a miler based on his sire and dam sireComment -

As for your 5 and 9 in that race, if I have to cap this race all over again, I still WILL NOT pick either one of them. You can have the best rider in the world, if the trainer and the horse is not up to task, he still won’t win.
anyway, good luck with your plays.Comment -

#55I believe Mr. G&T has been in this game a long time and uses sound logic to make decisions. And the fact that he does not use official pace figures makes it more impressive. I do not know Jbex. You came after Tony P for Money Management and now Mr. G&T for what you consider faulty Logic. Not cool. Grade your action. Beat Mr. G&T's results and then we can have this discussion again.
but here's the bottom line.. both of my criticism's in each case were right..you're making $4 and $8 bets
in a track your results thread and the you come in with $50 worth of exactas all of a sudden in 1 race .. come on you don't get why that's wrong.. give me a break.. if you'd like I'll post a link to someone who had a sample size of 17k+ races and was well ahead through about 2300 of them (5.7%. roi)..wound up even in the end ..actually think he lost .63% (less than 1%) average odds about 8-1..so keep patting yourself on the back with your small sample.. it's not ok that I challenge a statement somebody made on here that's false?Comment -

#57You see JBEX, that’s the difference between you and I. You go by numbers way too much. Everything to you is numbers. I don’t know what Lemon Drop Kid and El Prado average winning distances are. But what I do know from experience is that their offsprings are best at 1 mile and 1 1/4 on turf. Not as good for 1 1/16 and 1 1/8. I don’t have numbers to back this up but that is what I see and learn from. We can argue all day about their winning distance. Just to let you know there is a reason why they are call AVERAGE distance. You can do what whatever you want with it. But this has work for me. And if you want to be sarcastic, then there is no point of discussion.

As for this race they went 23 and change, 48 and change and 1:12 change, not much pace for the 1 to close. He will be in my stable for sure. If his next has some pace to run at or may stretches out to 1 1/4, I will bet him again.

Here is what Frank Scatoni has to say about the 5th At Del Mar. I'm on #9 Mo See Cal $2W $4P
Date: 8/3/2018 Race 5: $50K starter-allowance for fillies and mares going a mile on turf Post: 6:00 pm PDT
OVERVIEW Fourteen were entered but 11 will go postward in today’s featured contest race, a competitive $50K starter-allowance for fillies and mares going 8-furlongs on the turf. The rails are at 24-feet, and I believe the turf course has favored forwardly placed runners, so you don’t want to be too far back. That said, there should be a decent clip, so we shall see what happens.
#1 OUR SLICK CHICK (15/1) has been on or near the lead in each of her two turf races, so I’m sure she’ll be in the vanguard yet again breaking from the rail with the bug-boy Espinoza in the irons. She was pretty game last time when beating seven other $50K maidens, but she is a 3-year-old facing winners for the first time, and there should be others pushing the early pace. GRADE: C.
#2 LADY BEWARE (IRE) (15/1) has no early speed, so expect her on the scene late, if at all. She came off a long layoff last time to put in a mild late bid to finish fifth down the hill against $25K beatenclaimers. Presumably, she should move forward off that performance getting back around two turns and making her second start of the year, but the course hasn’t favored deep closers, and note that trainer Ruis has struggled with his turf horses the past year. GRADE: C.
#3 TELL ME MORE (9/2), the first Miller entrant, has done good work since hopping on the turf course, finishing in the trifecta in all five of her turf starts. She’s shown a decent stretch run for the level in the process, making her dangerous today, especially getting a 7-pound weight-break. She’s coming off a good second at a similar level, and I see no reason why she won’t fire against these. The only concern is that Figueroa is going to have to make sure this gal isn’t too far back. GRADE: A.
#4 FOXTAIL (6/1) has crossed the wire first twice in her career, “winning” two $50K maiden-claimers in wire-to-wire fashion. Two back, she was DQ’d, but she made amends last time, dueling the whole way before edging away to win by two. Her speed makes her dangerous over this course, but there is other pace in here, so there is a world in which she gets cooked. Sadler is going great guns right now, so I wouldn’t fault anyone for backing what appears to be the speed of the speed. GRADE: B.
#5 QUINNIE (8/1) has done decent work since joining the Gaines barn, but she is winless, despite going up north a few times to race at this starter-allowance level. She’s also a 3-year-old, so she’s facing older fillies in this spot, and her tactical speed means she could end up chasing a pretty quick pace. I do like that she ran second at a similar level last year as a juvenile, but do note that she needed $12.5K foes to break her maiden up north. It’s nice to see Bejarano stick around, but this gal is going to need a step forward today. GRADE: C
#6 SUPER PATRIOT (6/1) just beat Cal-bred $50K maidens in facile fashion, running by them as if they were standing still. Granted, she was 13/10, so she was supposed to win, so we’ll see if this 3-year-old can move forward today in her first try versus winners and while facing older. She’s been very honest on the turf, but let’s face it: Baffert isn’t known for his turf prowess, so this gal is going to need a step forward today. GRADE: C.
#7 SEA SENSATION (7/2) looked very good when beating Cal-bred MSWs last time, earning favorable OptixNOTES comments—but now this 3-year-old will face older winners today, so we’ll see if she can move forward off that sharp last effort. She’s tried hard in all three of her career races so far, no matter what the surface or distance, so it wouldn’t shock me if she ran another good one today—especially since she should get a great tracking trip—but I’m not too interested in 7/2 in such an unreliable group. GRADE: B.
#8 MONGOLIAN HUMOR (12/1) has never finished out of the exacta in her three-race career, so she’s eminently usable in this spot, especially since she just ran second by a neck at the $30K starter level, while racing on dirt. Before that, she looked very good beating $50K maidens going 9-furlongs on the lawn. She is a 3-year-old, so slight improvement is necessary, but she’s very honest, and 12/1 is a good price in a field where all of the ladies look pretty much the same to me. GRADE: A.
#9 MO SEE CAL (5/1) adds blinkers for new trainer Peter Miller, who took this one off a neck defeat against $25K beaten-claimers when O’Neill tried her down the hill. Before that, she had a mixed bag of races on different surfaces and at different distances, but the positive is that her one win came going a mile on the lawn. She does have speed, however, so the blinkers-on only means she’s going to be part of a hot pace, so the race-shape doesn’t really favor her forwardly placed running style. Still, the barn change is not insignificant, and look who shows up to ride: Prat. GRADE: B.
#10 SPECTACULAR MOVE (15/1) was life and death to break her maiden against $40K runners down the hill. She was game in that effort, but she also attended the pace—and there is plenty of other speed in here to make things tricky for a gal who hasn’t really passed a horse yet in her career. Talamo will have to work out the right trip, but the race flow doesn’t really favor this 3-year-old. GRADE: C.
#11 ROAD TEST (12/1) has been a steady check-earner, but she’s really lacked the eye of the tiger, settling for the minor awards instead of getting the victory. She’s also been facing $25K beaten-claimers, so this is a slightly better field, since these runners—who also only have one win—are at least protected from being claimed. I like that Desormeaux takes the call, and he’s often a difference-maker, but the post is no picnic, and Carava has been ice-cold this year. GRADE: C.
#12 MARRIED BY NOW—scratched.
#13 NOVEMBER TALE (IRE)—scratched.
#14 WARM IT UP (20/1) (AE) has tactical sprint speed, so she should be part of the early pace if she gets in. Her best work has come going shorter, so this seems like a prep for a turnback sprint race next time. On the plus side, she does like to run with her competition, picking up plenty of small checks in her 16race career. GRADE: X.
