I see you like playing the chalk a lot Zinister. Do not have the PP's for this race but will watch and root you on. GL.

That's life! I only try to pick horses I think will win. I am not good enough at handicapping to find the long shots.

OK. Favorites hit about 33% strike rate I believe.. Tough to make any coin just betting favs, I saw that Marathon horse yesterday paid 40 cents on the dollar. But I understand your situation being new to the game.

I agree. That race was bumper cars. I think I had the winner there, if it was a cleaner ride. I need to get a horse handicapping help book!lol

Read some of STR's thread here in the forum. Great info from a man that trained horses for decades.

                  Hi Zinister.

If I can try and help. Try finding a horse you are all set on betting and instead of betting just write it down. That will be hard as hell but just try and trust me for a bit.
Once you write it down, watch the race and don't watch hoping it wins or loses, watch and try and see WHY the bet won or lost. THAT is the first key step in learning this game.
Why be down 2 dimes before you even start to understand. There is nothing saying that you have to pay a heavy price to learn ( or never learn) how a game is best played .
Here is rule one. The game is pari mutuel meaning you are playing against everyone else. So try not to think like them. Think to win, not to play.
Try my thread, and it is a lot after many years, but skip through the BS and find what YOU need in it to start understanding how the game works. Plenty of solid players have contributed to it. It's not all me, it's all us. A lot of sharp players are in here.
Hope you try it out. I think you will be satisfied if you give it a shot.
                  Good luck.
