Did anybody see that 11 taken down from the winners circle yesterday? Was an absurd ruling as he was well clear before he went to the rail.

#2Went to Charles Town races website and watched the replay of the head on shot . At 6:06 - 6:15 of the replay if you watch the closest horse inside of the 11 and the 3rd closest horse inside the 11, you can see them getting all jammed up.
What makes this worse is that the rider is using the stick to entice the horse to lean inward starting before the horse even leaves the chute. That is not cool at all !
No clue who this rider is and that could come into play in the minds of the Stewards, but overall, if they allow that style of aggressive riding, especially with very average riders talent wise, which is code for the riders only having so much control over their mounts as compared to the elite riders, then they are saying that it is ok for all races leaving the 4 1/2 chute to be run that rough. THAT, would be a recipe for disaster. No doubt about that.
Darn shame that you lost that way because he really did not have to do that at all IMO. The outside post, or box, is a perfect place going 4 1/2 at C.T. to slowly put that same exact pressure on those inside horses but use more ground to do so. Same result when you hit the turn, but no complaining by other riders and much respect from the Stewards, some of which rode for decades.
Stinks to be DQ'ed when it did not need to occur.
Sorry about that.
Here it is:

#4On sloppy tracks the tail can become so full of mud that it can weigh 5-10 pounds more by the end of the race. This was common practice to put the tails (up) on muddy or sloppy tracks back in the day. Don't see it that much anymore do you?
Was tough on horses in the summer though, as the flies had a friggin field day if the horse did not have the tail down to keep them off.Comment -

#6You are very welcome.
I hope that it helped.
Whatever you do, don't stop playing the 9 and 10 hole going 4 1/2 if the horse has speed. Especially if the horse was the 1,2,3 horse last time and could not quite make the lead, thus eating dirt and being pinned. They are almost guaranteed to improve off of that race from the box position, and hopefully at a price. It is a huge advantage if the rider doesn't screw it up like this one did.
Keep up the good work.Comment -
