thanks you too.. like the latter better of the two.. think he has the best package on paper with his 2yo record and also like the fact that he at least has experience facing big fields whereas justify has none.. of the 2nd tier horses (mm, audible, good magic, mendelssohn ) he'd be my pick but i'm swinging for the fences.. also has about as good a distance pedigree as you can have

teriffic turf, win early pedigree.. dam a winner and noticed the very high dpi and 4 winners from as many starters ..used the link that str gave to see her progeny and understand the rating.. she's half to a 500k plus earner and 3 other very solid horses ..great tool to have.. solid jockey and trainer and will gladly take a price on this one

I’m gonna try the 11- Love of Art, his grand sire is War Front his dam is out Giant Causeway, I just think he can do some running on turf, even though according to DRF, his sire Declaration of War is 0 for 7 first turf....

hey mrgnt.. obviously i'm getting to this after the race but here's what I would have said before.. the 0-7 on dow wouldn't bother me at all as he was a turf monster with a pedigree to match and 7 starts too small a sample to draw any conclusions ..of course giant's causeway on the bottom another positive but she's really more geared for a route of ground by sire and dam sire (average winning distance ) I'm not trying to be snooty here but the brisnet pp's really give you a lot more important information than the drf classics...and I was a drf user for about 35 years

average winning distance sire and dam sire..
sire production and dam production index ..
dam unraced, placed, winner, stks plcd stks winner..
% first out, %first turf, %winners turf, % off track
off track, turf and distance ratings for each horse (don't use these)

so for example you have a giant's causeway mare who was unraced or you have a giant's causeway mare who was a stakes winner and has 3 winners from as many starters including a stakes winner..now does that mean your unraced gc mare can't produce a better horse (of cause not ha ha) but if you have this information it's hard not to upgrade the latter

again i'm not trying to be an info snob here but feel it's important stuff to know when you're evaluating horses based on pedigree..I'm always open to criticism if you disagree with me on anything including this

That’s great info. JBEX. I am just so use to Racing Form. As for the horse today, I do know that he wants more distance. But turf pedigree was not the only reason I chose him. I also looked at the jockey and trainer. 6 1/2 furlong downhill turf is not an easy race to do, either for the jockey or the horse. One of the best at this downhill race course is Joseph Talamo. In this race, I was gonna key his horse or my pick to come in first or second cuz I thought that this race was gonna be won by a firster. I thought that Prat can get a good ride from the outside post and I love Callaghan as a turf trainer. I didn’t pick Talamo horse cuz I didn’t care for Blame as a sire (dirt or turf) and trainer Kruljac is not known with turf runners. Adding all that, that’s why I pick him. But the way I wagered is the key to this race for me. Even if I had those added info, I am not sure if it was swayed me the other way. I agree, Brisnet probably has more info but it is just not for me, no offense. I do ok with DRF so I’m sticking with it. Don’t really have the time or effort to learn to read new PP.

ok mrgnt... I understand and if you ever look at the others and have a question just ask me.. I do like the beyer figures better but for me the positives of brisnet outweigh the negatives.. maybe we'll go back n forth in the other thread friday or saturday if you can

that being said and factoring in the value I'll be getting going to take a shot with him in the preakness..like the fact he is a 575k yearling purchase by dual bc classic winner tiznow..after a solid 2nd in his debut at churchill breaks his maiden in his next race at saratoga..follows that up with a win in the g1 hopefull at 7f knocking heads all the way around on a very fair pace according to brisnet

                                                              #3, SPORTING CHANCE (30-1):
Little has gone according to plan this year for the 2017 Hopeful winner. He missed his chance to make it into the Kentucky Derby when he reverted to his juvenile antics in the Blue Grass, swerving wildly through the lane while hampering his foes. Entered in the Pat Day Mile as a consolation prize, he actually ran quite well to be fourth. He was shuffled out of position on the backstretch and did well to rally past many rivals in the lane despite racing wide. However, that effort came going one turn, and now he’s being asked to stretch out again. I believe that shorter distances are what Sporting Chance needs at this point, so it’s hard to envision him as more than a pace factor here.
