    A Parimutuel Question
I must of missed the memo...

The following question is asked with regards towards flat betting only.

If a coupled entry finishes 1st and 2nd are the both considered the winner, and if so, is the 3rd finisher considered the place horse and the 4th finisher considered the show horse?

Also, will there be a flat bet payout for all three positions?

for payout purposes the entry finishing 1st and 2nd has a win and place payout and the horse who finished 3rd has a show payout

for a trifecta they would use the 4th place finisher as the 3rd horse in the trifecta

Yes the coupled entry are the WIN and PLACE for straight bets and for exotic betting purposes the 3rd horse would round out the exacta and the 4th horse would round out the TRI.

I seldom ever bet the show hole, the exception being if I like something really long (20-1+), and I have been betting horses for 35 years, and I have never noticed that before today?

        Thanks for the replies.
