$5 Show Parlay

I was at the track about 14-15 years ago with my Father & he had a friend who he worked with join us.
This friend told me that the favourite shows approximately 80% of the time. He told me about this "Show Parlay" method of betting through the 10 race card.
He explained that if the favourite pays an average of $2.50 per race you will be betting with $1200 going into the 10th race if you start with a $100 show bet on the favourite in the 1st race & let the winnings ride each race.
If the favourite happens to pay $3.20 to show, that total increases exponentially, he explained.
I am going to try this today but, I can't start with $100 in the 1st race so, I will start with a $5 base bet.
I am also not going to go with the favorite, I am going to try and get some heavier show payouts by selecting from the entire field.
Any tips would be appreciated throughout the day as I try to make it 10 races without missing a show bet.

I've tried this before. Been very successful with it as well for 4/5 race periods but the fav flops at times as we all know. I use one of the top 4 hourse each race that I like the most. Start with $20 and let it ride. Fun going to the track with buddies everyone throws in 5 and and let it ride for the day.

If I remember correctly Bet 365 pays out their horse race bets in a rather untimely fashion.

horseracing is the worst sport to have "untimely" payoffs on with all the races at the tracks going on close together.
I'd get out of there.

At most offshore books you can place horse parlays with all of your selections in 1 bet so you wouldnt have to wait for the bet to be graded to make the next wager.

Came across this thread from Google search.

I started this method for fun right now off a $1 show bet. I've started keeping a certain percentage for bet but so far I'm up to $18 off the $1. It's actually fun and helps you with being selective in your picks and races you play.
