You're an idiot. Crosby alone turned a bankrupt hockey club with tens of millions of debt into a half a BILLION dollar club in 5 years. The guy has won ever major trophy including a Olympic gold medal. It's not his decision to be taken out. It's the owners and the management that know how important he is to not only his club, but to the city and entire NHL. It's a business as well you peasant.

He annoys me and I think he is overrated. But to say he is ruining Hockey is idiotic. He is not responsible for the changes being made in the game. Like it or not, the average fairweather fan likes hockey that is closer to what we saw in the Olympics this year. I had tons of people, including lots of my female friends, calling me and talking to me about the hockey games in Van. The NHL is a for profit entity and they want the product to sell. The more fans that hockey brings in the better for all of us. More money equals better teams.

The slighty racist homophobic meathead hockey idiot is a dying group, they appear to be the ones most resistant to changes being made.

Crosby is a very skilled player, not matter how you feel about him. He had a major fing concussion, so he is being ultra paranoid. AS HE SHOULD BE. We are learning more and more about how damaging concussions are, especially multiple ones. I don't want to see anyone get hurt or develop severe mental illness. The players don't want this either, they want to be able to enjoy life after they retire, not suffer from depression and other issues. We had THREE players commit themselves this offseason because of damage from concussions.

Keep whining all you want, its not going change.

I am Canadian, played the game at a high level, and despise Crosby and his antics. Disliking the player has nothing to do with saying he is or isn't highly skilled. Criticism of him has nothing to do with one's nationality (see Lundqvist's comments late in 2010 about Crosby diving against the Rangers).

For all those who blasted me (NHL Pro Capper, thank you for that rant), I am not calling into question Crosby's talent or skills. He is the best hockey player as far as scoring goes in the game today. If you actually read my post I also stated HE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER IN THE GAME TODAY AND MAKES THE SPORT RELEVANT TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. This is not up for debate and I do think he is a wonderful talent.

My problem is he makes the game into a circus and complains about his health all the time. Do you think it is fair to fans that he stays out of games because he is not feeling well. How about all those tickets sold on the basis that the fans would see him lace up? Some will respond with "dude it's his health and he can do what he wants" but I will respond with the fact he is a professional hockey player that has a contractual obligation to play. "Not feeling right" is not being injured and you should go to work. Discounting the history of the NHL by saying "all the players were meat-heads" is not only ignorant, but disrespectful to the origins of the sport.

If you compare him to Gretzky or Lemieux who arguably had the same influence on the US and world hockey markets in their time, he is very different. Those two greats never tried to bitch out of things like this. Having your #1 player in the league act like the sport is too hard for him physically is extremely detrimental at all aspects of the sport. It makes the sport seem ultra dangerous and a "blood sport", two things the NHL has been trying to distance itself from for 20 years. This can be accomplished if top players (like in the NFL) embrace the physical nature of the sport and celebrate the aggressive component instead of shying away from it.

It would be like Tom Brady sitting out all season because he had a headache and didn't want to stand in the pocket, or he took off a meaningful game now and then just because he didn't "feel right".

People call Sid a whiner...its funny. Camera's are on him every damn minute. They catch every word he says. Add that in with the fact that peope love to hate, and its a perfect equation. Most players in the NHL whine, its what you have to do to draw calls. Every captain is always bitching to the refs, thats their job. Sid just gets photographed doing it 24/7 so it loooks bad.

I dont see how this is any different from the Canucks always staring at the refs everytime they get touched, expecting a penalty. the difference is Sid is the best player in the league since Mario, and hes going to get analyzed through a microscope. you are going to know every time he "dives" from every angle. When other players do it, who cares?

Its just sad so many people are this jealous. Why cant you just enjoy watching the guy? Best talent since Mario/Wayne...its just fun to watch. Everyone hates him, everyone tries to hurt him, and people can barely touch him on the ice. Its not often you get a 3rd liner work ethic with 1st line talent...Mario and Wayne didnt even have that.

He hasnt complained about shit. He wants to play.

The team will not let him. The coach will not let him. The GM will not let him. The doctors will not let him.

The pens are being ridiculously cautiouswith Sid right now. How is that in ANY way his fault? There are a ton of interviews with him saying he wants to be out there, but Bylsma said they want him to rest 2 games just to make sure there arent any problems.

This has nothing to do with Sid being a pussy. This is just a franchise protecting their investment. You call it pussy? I call it smart managing.

Yes they are. Look what happend in the off-season. Three Hockey players committed suicide and concussions played a large role in the mental illness. We had a very revealing look at what Concussions did to Walter Payton. Obviously it has effects on boxers (Ali is walking proof).

We have seen what concussions due to our courageous servicemen and women and are finally acknowledging this... why should we expect those caused by sport to be any different?

I cannot stand Crosby, especially after that goal he scored against the US. He had a terrible tournament. I would have been much happier if it was someone like Toews that scored it (but would have preferred someone like Kane, Kesler, Gomez etc). But I don't want him to go risk himself just to try to please a bunch of meatheads calling him a "P*ssy". That is stuff that a 14 year old says.
