I agree Flax but the bottom line is it's 1-1 and these scenarios happen frequently in the NHL. Seems the periods which involve two teams that have plenty of offensive firepower often stay under the total while the apparent teams that lack offense and prefer to play defense often end up going over the 1.5 goal mark in the first period of games. Not sure how many people I saw today on the under 5.5 total in the Anaheim-Blues contest and rightfully so, at least one would think because the of mediocre offensive firepower and also with Halak coming over to St. Louis. However we know what happened with that total earlier today.
Finally sometimes it's best to take or consider the second period total as opposed to the first because the players tend to have their legs moving much better after the opening period of action.

Didn't see this game but if it was Mike Green you're talking about I'm sure the linesman blew the call since Green is the best defenceman in the league.

Soxfan9 betting the NHL whether on a daily basis or even every third day for that matter is extremely difficult the first two or three weeks of the season because it's so difficult to gauge the talent on each of the thirty clubs as they start the new season. After a couple of weeks I find one has a better feeling for his plays as he becomes more familiar with the goaltending, powerplays, special teams, etc. I guess it's tough to win anytine but allowing each club to settle in provides you with a better knowledge of the difference in talent between the various teams. I suppose this goes for any sport.
