Yup they have but I hit 68% of them last year so I can't just give up on them altogether.

This is the reason I still keep betting first period overs. Killed it last year, clearly this year is a whole different story. Can't wait to add up all my 1st period plays this year I bet I'm down a ton. Hopefully this time I can let them go for good.

why don't you put a certain percentage of your period total on the game total so you spread the risk. so if you want a 2 unit first period over then just make it a 1.5 unit play and have a .5 unit on the game over. So if you miss the period you still have the game to hopefully only lose one unit, and if the period hits you will have a winning game still with a shot at the game total. just trying to think of suggestions to spread your risk and avoid a single large loss.

I will probably just abandon the 1st period overs though they are a joke.

that' the thing about period lines, compared to a game its relatively a short period of time that your bet is determined on a limited number of short events. One time I had a goal wiped out by some call and lose the wager by half a goal. But keep that strategy in mind if you want to go big on a game total, it a great way to spread risk an still have a chance at a similiar amount of money because you lose a little juice.

DG. I would look at team totals for one team, and totals for both teams rather than 1st period. The 1st period totals can hurt you because you don't have the benefit of depending on something happening later on. In team totals you can pick for example the sharks to go over 3.5 at -107, they can be in a 1-1 game after 2 periods and it might look like it's over, but you could see a 3rd period go back and fourth. They can score 2 goals to take the lead, than the other team tying it. 3-3 going into O.T. All you need is the sharks to win and you beat the team total.

Also say the total is 2 and you pick over for that team, as soon as your team scores 1 goal, a push at the very least is really likely.

I do think 1st period plays do have some value on some nights, but you need to decide when that is and not force it.
